Word 2003 Screen• File Menu

– Holds the options for creating a new document, opening a document, saving a document, printing a document, and exiting the program

• Edit Menu• Holds the commands for undoing options,

cutting, copying, pasting, and finding a replacing text

Word 2003 Screen• View Menu

– Contains the different options available for viewing the document, viewing different toolbars and other items such as headers and footers

• Insert Menu– Holds the various commands for

adding elements such as page numbers, symbols, comments, graphics and textboxes to a document

– Contains the options for customizing the font, paragraph, bullets, and numbering, page background, and the styles and formatting of the document

• Tools Menu– Gives the user access to the spelling and

grammar check tools, research tool, word count and other customizing options

Word 2003 Screen• Table Menu

– Holds the different options for creating a table; such as drawing a table, inserting a table and making changes to the table

• Window Menu– Controls how the program window appears

in conjunction with other windows which may be open on the computer

Word 2003 Screen• Help Menu

– Gives the user access to the various help options associated with Microsoft Word

• Rulers– Gives the user an idea of where the items

being entered in the document will be located

• Print Layout View– Shows how the document will look when it is

printed

– Shows the structure of the document as levels of headings and body text

• Web Layout– Displays the document as it would appear

on a Web Browser

• Document Map– A list of headings which make up the

structure of a document

Word 2003 Screen• Formatting Toolbar

– Creates an easy way to have access to commands such as font type, style, alignment and format

• View Toolbar– Located on the status toolbar; this

regulates how the document is seen, such as in print

– Allows the user to move up and down through a document

• Insertion Point– The location within the document where

text will begin• Status Bar

– Gives the user information which corresponds to the document; such as page number, the location area and the indention

– Contains the different menus which will be needed in order to operate the program

• Title Bar– Contains the name of the document and

program as well as the ability to minimize, maximize and close the program

• Standard Toolbar– Holds icons which give user quick access to

certain commands such as creating a new document, opening a file, saving, printing and completing a spell check
