OurHeadteacher,MrsRosecametousasinterimHeadteacher,likedusandstayed.Shehasbeenwithusfor5yearsbuthasannouncedherdesiretojoinherhusbandinretirementattheendofthesummerterm.
InthefollowingpackwehopetoprovideyouwithalltheinformationyouwillneedinapplyingforthepostasournewHeadteacher,aswellasaclearsenseofourvision,aimsandpriorities.
WoottonSt.Peter’sCofEPrimarySchoolwasfoundedin1869andcelebratesits150thAnniversarythisyear.Theschool issituatedclosetobothAbingdonandOxfordandisathrivingclass4VoluntaryAidedschool(averagerolljustover85andPANof16).Whilstwehavehighexpectationsofchildreninbothworkandbehaviour,wewantthemtoleaveusasconfidentyoungpeoplewhoseneedshavebeenmetacademically,sociallyandemotionally.
Our childrenatWoottonSt.Peter’sare funny, creative,enthusiasticandengaged in theactivitiesof theschoolandofthewiderworld.Weofferanextensiveextendedlearningprogrammeincludingbeforeandafterschoolcareandclubs.Ourchildrenenjoyawiderangeofenrichmentorspecialistactivitiesincludingmusic,sports,andcraftactivities.Wehavelinkedwithalocalindependentschoolsince2017,whichprovidesadditionalsupporttoouractivities.
Allourstaffworkasrespectedmembersofaskilfulanddedicatedteamprovidingmutualsupportandsharingindividual expertise. They strive forexcellence in theirownpractice,which they constantlyexamineandrefinetomeetthechangingrequirementsoftheirstudents,externaldemandsandtheirownhighstandards.Ourchildrenaresurroundedeachdaybythebestpossiblerolemodels.
In2018wewereinspectedbyOfstedandweregivenaprovisionalGoodratingsubjecttoafurther2dayinspectionin2019.OurHeadteacherandthewholeschoolcommunityhaveworkedextremelyhardwiththeDioceseandLocalAuthority toensure thatweare fully ready for that inspection.Weareconfident thatOfstedwillbepleasedwiththeworkundertakenwhentheyreturntoconductthatinspection.
TheGoverningBodyworksverycloselywiththeHeadteacherandstafftosupportthedevelopmentoftheschoolandlearningneedsofthechildren.AsgovernorsweappreciatethedemandsontheHeadteacherandstaffandworkcollaborativelythroughtheTeachingandLearning,ResourcesandS.I.A.M.Scommitteestoensureconsistentlyhighstandards.
Wearealsoveryfortunateinthesupportofourparents.TheFriendsofWoottonSchoolraisesaround£4,000each year and has provided a wide range of activities and equipment for our children including I.T.equipment,digitalcameras,asoundsystem,apop-upstageandrefurbishmentofout-datedoutdoorplayarea.
WearelookingfortheHeadteacherwhofitswithourschool,ourvisionandourcommunity.Ideallytheywillhave an active commitment tomaintain the school’s Christian ethos andour linkswithWoottonParishChurch.Thesuccessfulcandidatewill joinourcloseknitcommunity,whereorganisationsworkalongsideeachotherintheCommunityCentre,Church,Schoolandlocalshops.
St.Peter’sChurchisattheheartofthelocalcommunityandwebenefitfromourvicarbeingoneofourgovernors.Manychurchmemberswereandarepupilsandcontinuetoservetheschoolinmanyways.St.Peter’sisawarmchurch,witharepresentativemixofthewholecommunity.

FRIENDSOFWOOTTONSCHOOL(FOWS)TheFOWSisaregisteredcharitywiththefollowingaims–
ToadvancetheeducationofpupilsintheSchoolinparticularby:• Developingeffectiverelationshipsbetweenthestaff,parentsandothersassociatedwith

FOWSismainlyrunbyparentswithintheschoolwhomeetacoupleoftimesatermtoplaneventsandagreespending.Wegiveourtimetohelpenhancethechildren’sexperienceoflearningwithintheschool.EachyearweliaisewiththeHeadteachertodiscusswhatadditionalneedstheschoolhasthatwecanhelpwith.Weaimtoraisebetween£4,000and£10,000ayear.Inrecentyearswehavesupplied,amongstotherthings,iPads,digitalcameras,anoutdoorclassroom,anewprojectorsystemforthehallandlaptopcomputers.Inadditionwealsosupport theschoolbypaying foradditionalexperiences for thechildren, includingmusicanddramaworkshops,forensicsciencedays,TheLegoman,PSCHEsupportdaysviatheLifebusandarangeofsportsactivitiessuchasskippingandcircusskills.Wefundraiseinanumberofdifferentways,runningeventsbothlargeandsmall.Aswellasregularschoolteaandcakesaleswehavealsorunanumberofverysuccessfulpromisesauctions,heldannualChristmasfayres,Mayfayresandfamilymovieevenings.WehavealsoorganisedaChristmasshoppingeveningforthewholecommunitywherearound200peoplecometovisitthe40stallswehaveonoffer.WherepossibleweliketoinvolvethechildreninthefundraisingandKeystage2childrenhelprunstallsattheChristmasteashopandMayFayre.Wemakegreateffortstowelcomenewparentswhentheyjointheschool,byattendingthenewparentsmeetingandrunningawelcomeBBQattheendofSeptembereachyear.Wealsowritetoeachnewfamilywelcomingthemtotheschoolandexplainingwhatwegetupto.Weaimtoworkinpartnershipwithparents,childrenandthestafftomakefundraisingfunandsuccessful.
