The theme for this year has been ‘Cracking the Code with Maths’. Staff and students have been using their investigative and detective skills to find numbers and shapes hidden around the school yard as part of the Numeracy Search Around the school. Special thanks to Ms Walsh and Ms Gilchrist for organising the many fun activities for the children this week. It has certainly kept them engaged and entertained! Keeping with the maths theme, our SRC invited all students and members of our School Council to guess the weight and amount of objects in various jars. The names of the students who have guessed most accurately will be announced at our assembly tomorrow. It was lovely to see so many parents, grandparents, and family members walking around and visiting our classrooms during our open afternoon yesterday. The children thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to share and ‘show off’ their work and classroom with family and friends. School Fete During our recent school fete the Grade 1/2 students performed two smashing hits including ‘Let It Go’ (1/2A & 1/2B) and ‘One Thing’ (1/2C, 1/2D, & 1/2E). Everyone enjoyed singing and dancing on stage.

“I like that lots of people were watching us.” Peyton, Grade 1. “I felt a little bit nervous but I loved singing and when people were clapping” Taleigha, Grade 1

“I loved singing our song and doing our dance moves. It was exciting!” Abigail, Grade 2.

And More 1/2 News…

As part of our Creative Curriculum, the Grade 1/2 classes have been busy organising a garden bed outside Mrs. Cogan’s classroom. We were lucky enough to have a water tank donated from Greenco Water and Bunnings as well as a $200 donation to go towards installation. Company representatives came out to make the presentation to our school last Thursday. The students enjoyed watching teachers putting the water tank together. The teachers managed to construct the tank in 1 minute and 38 seconds and if this is the fastest construction time, the school will be given another $500. Fingers crossed!

3/4 Team This week the 3/4 team has participated in many activities to celebrate Education week 2015. We have enjoyed the Numeracy Hunt around the school yard and whole school open afternoon. We have had the opportunity to work with our Buddies to do reading and play fun games. What a great experience this has been.

5/6 Team

Year Six Doxa City Camp Monday 11th May to Wednesday 13th May. Walking, walking and more walking but loads of fun and things to do and see. Congratulations to all year six students for the exemplary manner in which they conducted themselves

during the camp – you made Woodville proud!

Specialist Team

Our Prep students participated in the Melbourne Storm Backyard Rugby League clinic. Students learnt how to score a try, play the ball back to their teammate and evade defenders through dodging. The 3-6 Cross Country trials were held at Heathdale Christian College. This was our team that represented Woodville PS. Congratulations to all students who did a fantastic job! The 3/4 students were involved in AFL clinics over a 3 week period. Students learnt how to handball, kick, bounce and mark. This picture shows the students learning how to bounce the ball. They had to start on their knees and then practising bouncing the ball while standing.

WOODVILLE INAUGURAL SHOPPING TOUR Please join us on Saturday 1st August for our inaugural Woodville Shopping Tour School Fundraiser.
