Kevin Burke’s highly fluid and ornamented Sligo lilt is eas- ily one of the most recognizable sounds in Irish music -- “one of the high spots of the current Irish musical scene,” according to The Irish Times. From his early days with the pioneering Bothy Band to his tours with supergroup Patrick Street and the Celtic Fiddle Festival, Kevin is widely respected as both an ensemble player and a dynamic solo performer. He’ll be joined by Cal Scott, who plays everything from folk to jazz on bass, brass, guitar and whatever else is handy. A sensitive accompanist, Cal is also a composer, arranger and producer, with many film and television scores to his credit. He frequently incorporates original songs and tunes when performing with Kevin. This is a duo of stunning musical depth and creativity -- you won’t want to miss it. www.harpagency.com October 19 – Beppe Gambetta This uniquely masterful guitarist has been declared a “flatpicking monster (with) superhuman grace” by Pulse Magazine; we are delighted to welcome him to Woods Hole for the first time. From his roots as musi- cian in love with American country and bluegrass as well as the traditional music of his native Italy, Beppe has traveled the world to dazzle music enthusiasts ev- erywhere, sharing the stage with David Grisman, Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Bela Fleck and many others. He is known for surprising his audiences with unex- pected stylistic blends, which he calls “strolling music … intolerant of frontiers, unaware of classification.” As Taylor Guitar Co. puts it, “He’s an almost unnaturally gifted flatpicker and fingerstylist, and personable to a fault -- a charmer who soon has even the most reticent audience in the palm of his hand.”

November 2 – Kim and Reggie Harris

This Philadelphia-based duo has long inspired audiences of all ages with the spirited passion of their historical and educational concert programs. Their repertoire of close-harmony songs is drawn from folk, spiritual and gospel traditions along with original works. Critics describe their music as “uplifting,” “insightful,” “a magical ... celebration of life in sound.” Kim and Reggie have produced ten recordings, the latest be-ing “Get on Board!” It features songs of freedom from the Underground Railroad to the Civil Rights movement, with guests ranging from Danny Glover to Sweet Honey in the Rock. In addition to a busy touring schedule, Kim and Reggie provide curriculum training for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Touring Workshop Program. They are also featured artists in Silver Burdett and Ginn’s “World of Music,” a leading educational music series. “[Their] jazzy melodies and intricate vocal harmonies cause them to stand out in a sea of singer/songwriters.” (Dirty Linen Magazine) Bring your family, and your singing voice!

November 16 – Roy Bookbinder

Roy Book Binder is a blues singing, guitar picking, song writ-ing and storytelling phenomenon. For over three decades he has traveled through America in his tour bus home, performing and teaching. In the early 1960s Roy learned his craft from Piedmont blues masters such as Reverend Gary Davis and Pink Anderson (the “Pink” in Pink Floyd). Before he died, Anderson gave Roy his songs with a request to keep his name alive; Roy has been obliging ever since. “Book” has toured with such greats as Bonnie Raitt, BB King, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee, Doc Watson, Ray Charles and Hot Tuna, appearing at festivals from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Chicago Blues Festival to The National Storytelling Festival and Merlefest, where he has hosted the acoustic blues stage for over a decade. Reviewers have praised his classic blues sensibility, rugged vocal style, fine fingerpicking and bottleneck guitar techniques -- and above all his mastery as an entertainer, weaving stories, humor and music into an evening to remember.
