will announce our scout team player ofthe week. This player will be the 1st inline to eat. We will also have 2-3 otherplayers talk about what our team meansto them, and whatever they have on theirmind. We will make this an exciting nightfor the boys and our program.

Have an open film night during theweek to show film to parents, so allcan see and enjoy. This will be a funnight, not a night to teach or talkabout players.

What can you do to helpthe program, and your

    son to achieve success?

  • 8/3/2019 Woodland Park - Parent Meeting

    7/27

Support coaching staff even if you dont agree

with them. The importance of support is so the

kids stay positive, and be team players. Anegative parent makes a negative player, andhurts player attitude more than helps. A negativeattitude can also cause conflict and teaching

ability between player-coach. You may not agreewith everything we do, but it is important thatyour child not hear you talk negative. Also, manytimes a child will tell their parents something,

because they think that is what their parentwants to hear.

Dont coach your son. That is the job of the

coaching staff. When a parent teaches their child

one thing and the coaching staff another, theplayer gets confused. The player has to be ableto play within the team scheme.

Remember, your child is still a kid. Let them bekids 1st, and enjoy the sport as a high schoolactivity. Sports are part of their education. Manylessons are learned, and used the rest of their

    lives.

Dont talk about other players in a negative way.

This hurts TEAM moral more than you think. It

teaches a kid to judge, not support theirteammates. Remember: The team is bigger thanthe individual player.

Success is based on improvement, and work putforth. Not on win/loss record, or individual stats.

Be courteous to the officials, and opposing

    players.

To discipline them as a team member: We expectthem to adhere to team rules, school rules,Colorado high school athletic association rules, and the Law.

To give every athlete a fair chance to play.

Must understand that playing time is earned inpractice.

Lack of playing time does not mean we do not

    Your child. What can he do to get more playingtime? Not: can he play more, or why is he notplaying. Many times there is a reason for lack ofplaying time that your child will not tell you. {Ex-late for practice, because girl friend was moreimportant}

Concerns about his Behavior- On the team, inclass, at home? His grades are not up to par.

We will not talk about other players or otherplayers parents.

We will not talk about our football scheme. Plays:If we cannot come up with a solution to yourproblem, than an appointment can be made withthe head coach and the Athletic director.
