What happened to the charcoal crisis? systematic reviews as a contribution to evidence-based policy on wood-based fuel in Africa by Miyuki Iiyama, Gillian Petrokofsky, Peter Kanowski and Yannick Kuehl September 11, 2013

description

On 11 September, Miyuki Iiyama, a socio-economist with the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), and colleagues from CIFOR, Oxford University and INBAR, presented the preliminary findings of a review looking at demand, supply and policies around woodfuel and charcoal in sub-Saharan Africa. The talk gave insights into charcoal production and trade in SSA, and the numerous gaps in the knowledge and data on, particularly, charcoal.
