Dear 4‐H Families:

The New Year is here! May 2016 be a

great year for you and your families!

Many people set resolu ons for the year –

maybe you did and you’re s ll going

strong, and maybe you’ve already broken

yours – either way, it is ok! Remember

resolu ons are basically just goals, so you

can reset them and start over any me you

wish!

A resolu on I have for the upcoming year is to make our 4‐H program

more friendly and welcoming to “First Genera on 4‐H Families.” Many of

our 4‐H families have no history or background with 4‐H. Parents may

not have been 4‐H members themselves, so some of our language/terms

(“4‐H jargon”) might not make any sense. How can we help new families

understand our 4‐H language? Are there ways that we can talk about the

many great things we do in 4‐H in terms that everyone can

understand? During club or commi ee mee ngs, how can we work with

all our 4‐H families to make sure they understand what we are talking

about?

In this word cloud, there are examples of the many words we use in 4‐H. Lots of them may seem like simple words, but within our 4‐H program, they can be quite confusing! As we go through the upcoming year, let’s think about the language we use in 4‐H and work to help all of our 4‐H families understand our terminology!
