● You want to know how to properly setup Woocommerce for your site

● You want to learn something new about shop configuration and tools

● We will be setting up a complete store using the base WordPress 2013 Theme (but please note this system will work with ANY theme)

Step 1: Website HostingTake your pick. Numerous options out there that offer simple one click installs of wordpress like

HostGator, Godaddy, Bluehost, Dreamhost, WP-Engine, etc...


Step 2: Install PluginsHere are the base plugins that I recommend installing with ANY Woocommerce site:

● Woocommerce

● Woodojo

● WordPress SEO by Yoast


Step 3: Configure Settings● General Tab

○ General Options■ Base Location■ Currency■ Allowed Countries

○ Cart, Checkout and Accounts■ Force SSL (inline transactions requires ssl certificate)

○ Registration (default good)○ Customer Accounts (default good)○ Styles and Scripts

■ (where you can customize your shop color styles)

○ Downloadable Products (default good)


Step 3: Configure Settings● Catalog Tab

○ Catalog Options■ set your options in dropdowns

○ Product Data■ set your weight units

○ Pricing Options (default good)○ Image Options (default good)


Step 3: Configure Settings● Pages Tab

○ Page Setup○ Shop Pages

● Inventory Tab○ inventory management options


Step 3: Configure Settings● Tax options

○ Standard Rate■ country code, US■ State, MA■ Zip - * = all■ City - *=all■ Rate - 6%■ Tax Name - Appears on order form■ Priority - 1 ■ Compound - not■ Shipping - no

○ Shipping General Options■ Flat Rate■ Free Shipping■ International Delivery (disable)■ Local Delivery (disable)■ Local Pickup (disable)■ Other shipping method extensions are available

(table rate, USPS, UPS, etc)■ Uncheck calculate shipping in cart if not using

options above


Step 3: Configure Settings● Payment Gateways Tab

○ Turn all other options off○ Configure Paypal

● Emails Tab○ customize customer notifications

● Integration Tab○ Setup Google Analytics tracking○ Must have in addition to Woocommerce tracking


Step 4: Enter Products● Long Description● SEO● Short Description● Featured Image● Set Category● Product Data

○ Pricing○ Shipping○ Attributes○ Variations○ Linked Products


Step 5: Collect that Money!Woocommerce makes it easy to view and manage your orders all in one place, as well as quickly view your shop status and product performance

● Orders are all organized neatly in a post type

● Quick click to view and review orders

● Simple drop downs to change order status

● Analytics for shop included in Woocommerce are second to none


Step 6: Spread ProductsNow that we have our settings in place and our products in the system we can now look at how we can integrate and display your products throughout your site very quickly and easily….

● Woocommerce provides easy product integration tools

● Comes with a complete set of handy widgets

● Products will also display in the shop template

● Products will also have their own archives
