Megan Nemec, Fr., MF/F, Loyola Loyola freshman Megan Nemec enjoyed a breakout weekend as the Ramblers split a pair of games. In Friday’s home-opening win over South Dakota, Nemec provided assists on both of the Maroon & Gold’s goals as part of a 2-1 victory over the Coyotes. MVC WOMEN’S SOCCER WEEKLY RELEASE

Sydney HaydenThe Panthers battled against Omaha deep into double overtime. Senior forward Sydney Hayden is the Panthers’ leading returning scorer and currently ranks fifth in career goals with 13 after scoring in the season opener against Chicago State, 2 shy of tying Sarah Brandt for 4th all-time (15). Hayden scored six goals in 2018 which is tied for sixth all-time for single season goals.

More About the PanthersAlong with playing soccer, leading scorer Rolli is also an intern with UNI’s Ath-letic Communications department. Panther Soccer welcomes Jami Reichen-berger to the coaching staff after earning MVC All Tournament Team recogni-tion last season. UNI returns senior Sydney Hayden, after receiving both an MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention and an All-Conference Honorable Mention last season. Jordyn Rolli returns for her senior year after receiving an MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention. Top scorers Sydney Hayden (6 goals), Rolli (4 goals), and Jamie Althiser (3 goals) return for their senior years. The Panthers received the MVC Fair Play Award in the 2018 season.

VALPARAISO (0-3-1, 0-0-0 MVC) Freshmen Finding the Net Dugan was one of two Valpo rookies to score in Sunday’s draw with Wright State, as Nicole Norfolk headed home a corner kick in the first half. The assist on Norfolk’s goal came from a freshman as well, as Natalie Graf delivered the corner.

Making Debuts Three more Valpo players saw their first action for the Brown and Gold last weekend. Redshirt freshman Kerry Slaga and freshman Cierra Welch both made their Crusader debuts off the bench Friday night at Bowling Green, while redshirt freshman Alexis Gaffney came on for her debut Sunday afternoon.

A Good Omen? The draw against Wright State was Valpo’s first result of the season, but still leaves the Brown and Gold winless in their first four. The only other time under head coach John Marovich that Valpo failed to win one of its first four matches, the 2014 squad proceeded to reel off wins in 14 of the next 15 matches and capture Horizon League regular season and tournament titles.
