• Sappho was one of the first published female writers who was referred to by Plato as one of the greatest poets.

• Though a lot of her poems have been lost, she has remained as a huge influence for both females and men in the writing world.

• According to an article published by Biography Online, Cleopatra was not only the last Ptolemaic ruler of Egypt, but was a master at communicating and negotiating:

• “Cleopatra sought to defend Egypt from the expanding Roman Empire. In doing so she formed relationships with two of Rome’s most powerful leaders Marc Anthony and Julius Caesar,” (Biography Online, Women Who Changed the World).

• Marie Curie is next on this list as she was the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize in two distinct categories.

• A Polish & French scientist, Curie was awarded one prize for her research in radioactivity and one for chemistry.

• She also helped construct the first X ray machines, proving that women can be scientists (and life-changing ones) too.

• We could never write a list about the women who’ve changed the world without including Mother Teresa, could we?

• A dedicated nun who devoted her entire life helping others in need, Mother Teresa was truly one of a kind.

• She was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 1979, and to this day remains one of the most admirable, selfless human beings of all time (of both men and women).
