Women Veterans Military Moral Injury: Research, Recovery, Resources, and a Call for Compassionate Community Responsiveness Regional Conferences for Women Veterans, Chaplains, Clergy, Community Leaders, & Clinicians March 26-27, 2020: College of Charleston, Charleston, SC May 14-15, 2020: Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA The Women Veterans Military Moral Injury Conferences will take a major step in addressing Moral Injury in Women Veterans by bringing them together with military chaplains, civilian clergy, community leaders, researchers on moral injury, and community health providers: to dialogue, share research, resources, and interventions to assist Women Veterans in their emotional, spiritual, physical, and economic recovery, and increase community support for their successful transitions. These featured speakers are experts in women veteran issues, military moral injury, and chaplaincy. BriGette McCoy, Founder and CEO of Women Veteran Social Justice Network and City of Atlanta Veterans Affairs Commission Vice Chair. BriGette has been interviewed extensively by CNN, HLN, Good Morning America, Al Jezeera America, NPR News, Huffpost and is the recipient of the prestigious Community Services Award from the Medal of Honor Society. BriGette guest lectures and consults on military moral injury. Chaplain Juliana M. Lesher, PhD is the National Director of Chaplain Service for the Department of Veteran Affairs. Chaplain Lesher was the recipient of the VA Under Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Chaplaincy, the Distinguished Service Award from the Military Chaplains Association, and the VA Secretary’s Heart and Hands Award. She also is the author of the God Understands series. Dr. Daniel Roberts, President and CEO of Moral Injury Support Network for Servicewomen, Inc. Daniel has over 17 years of experience in providing emotional and spiritual support to men and women in the armed forces. Dr. Roberts created the Comprehensive Female Soldier Support Model, a framework of spiritual care for women service members. Sharon Robino-West is certified in Peer Support, Trauma Informed Care, and Suicide Survivor Support Group Facilitation. Sharon received two Meritorious Masts for her service in the Marine Corps, was awarded Outstanding Veteran Advocate by Nebraskans for Civic Reform and is an honoree of the WCA’s Tribute to Women award. Chaplain (Colonel) Cliff Vicars, DMin, serves as the Command Chaplain for the 3rd Medical Command Deployment Support. He is also the Chief of Chaplain Services at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN. He has served as an Army Chaplain for twenty-four years, and has a passion for working with service members and Veterans across all military components who have been injured due to military service.
