Women Shock Children and Land in Jail

Women Shock Children and Land in Jail In Gilmore County, West Virginia, two women used shock devices to discipline children and land in jail for child neglect and child abuse. As a form of punishment Mary Ann Starcher, age 35, used a shock device on four children. She was formally charged with four counts of child abuse. However, Starcher wasn't the only one charged in this pending case. Yarica Jackson, age 32, was charged with child neglect for allowing the shocking to take place. This device was home made and used as some sort of punishment device. The four children who were unfortunately shocked were between the ages of four to twelve. Thankfully, these children have now been placed into protective custody. For Starcher to take the time to make a shock device to use on her children is utterly reprehensible. There is never a reason to use this type of punishment on children. If she found them hard to deal with then she should have sought help. Hopefully, the state police will ensure that she is held accountable for her actions. As parents, the duty you hold to your children is one of protection from infant child care abuse. This job should never be taken lightly. There are too many alternatives with organizations and individuals willing to help. Jackson, who admitted to http://www.kindercare.com/ allowing the punishments to take place is just as guilty. The idea that she set back and watched these children be shocked is just as bad as committing the offense herself. They now have to answer to their crimes. Would you willingly sit by and watch someone shock innocent children?  Picture Source: Tomica Bonner Flickr (via Fotolia)
