Bloomberg Presents: How Women Power the Economy and Why They Shouldn't Be Shy Talking About It Jacqueline Thorpe and Richard Yamarone

Women as the Ultimate Economic Driver. With consumer spending comprising some 70 percent of U.S. GDP, and women making an overwhelming majority of those purchasing decisions, there is no doubt who wields the power in the U.S. economy. This will be followed by a discussion on Bloomberg's Women's Project, the company's drive to get more women in our

journalism -- as sources, voices, and newsmakers -- and why it's important for women to make their voices heard.

Deloitte LLP Presents: Unconscious Biases and How They Hinder Us Jackie Scales and Lizanne Roziere

The Equality Challenge Unit defines unconscious bias as "a bias that we are unaware of, and which happens outside of our control. It is a bias that happens automatically and is triggered by our brain making quick judgments and assessments of people and situations, influenced by our background, cultural environment, and personal experiences". Learn how to identify these biases, how they can impact our decision making and how we can work to overcome them.

Mercer Presents: “When Women Thrive” – insights from a new Research Report on Women in the Workplace Jaqui Parchment

Women are under-represented in the workforce globally, and if organizations maintain the current rate of progress, female representation will reach only 40% globally in the professional and managerial ranks in 2025, according to Mercer’s second annual When Women Thrive global report. Among the key trends revealed in the report is that women’s representation within organizations declines as career levels rise – from support staff through the executive level.

“Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders” Moderated TED Talk Stefanie Keller

“Women face harder choices between professional success and personal fulfillment.” – Sheryl Sandberg, TED Talk 2010 A discussion on keeping women in the workforce and ensuring you take a seat at the table.

Speakers Bonnie Brooks

Vice Chairman of Hudson’s Bay Company Bonnie Brooks has restored one of North America’s greatest department stores, Hudson’s Bay Co., to its rightful place as a world-class retailer. As its first female CEO, Brooks led The Bay through sweeping, institutional changes—no small feat—that revitalized one of the planet’s oldest brands. Stylish and thoughtful, she speaks on leadership, innovation, turnaround, and the meeting of creativity and commerce. In February 2014, Brooks was appointed Vice Chairman of Hudson’s Bay Company, the world’s oldest continuously operating company, which owns and operates Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord and Taylor in the USA, and, of course, Hudson’s Bay department stores in Canada. Prior to her current role, Brooks was President and CEO of HBC; and before she oversaw the company’s successful turnaround, Brooks was based in Hong Kong, where she revitalized another iconic retailer, Asia’s Lane Crawford, helming 500 stores across nine Asian countries. Brooks has also served as Editor-in-Chief of Flare, Canada’s largest fashion magazine, and Executive VP of Holt Renfrew, where she brought many major American and European designer brands to Canada. She is one ofMonocle’s Top 25 Retailers worldwide and one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business. She has received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for philanthropy, and is a member of the American Marketing Association Marketing Hall of Legends. In October 2014, she became the first woman to receive the prestigious Ivey Business Leader of the Year Award. Brooks is Chaiman of the Board of Trustees of the ROM, appointed by the Premier of Ontario, a member of the Board of Directors for Empire Company Limited, Rogers Communications, and Abercrombie & Fitch. Brooks holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and was the Parsons School of Design Honoree in 2013.

Yvonne Camus High Performance Specialist Can a middle-aged woman outperform US Navy Seals? Maybe not, physically. But she can outthink, out-hustle, and out-heart them. Yvonne Camus is one of North America's most trusted speakers on teamwork and performance. On stage, she’s shown hundreds of organizations how ordinary people like her can achieve extraordinary things. Deeply relatable, Camus interweaves her personal experiences—a business executive, a mother of three—into revelatory keynotes on human performance. Yvonne Camus is an astoundingly assured speaker. The hundreds of standing ovations she has collected testify to her enthusiasm for work and life. Camus was a participant in the Eco-Challenge, the world championship of adventure racing conceived by Mark Burnett of Survivor fame. (Hers was the first rookie team to complete the grueling competition.) Punchy, deeply moving, and often humorous, Camus draws on her experiences to show you how to rise to the challenges of training, preparation, and execution. In the process, she helps you to see—and to realize—the potential for greatness in yourself, in your co-workers, and in your entire organization.
