WIB Spotlight

Denise has been married for 31 years to her best friend. Denise and her husband, Thayne have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Denise enjoys spending her free time with the grandchildren. They are the best part of life. Denise also loves spending time at her family cabin in Central/Southern Utah where she goes 4 wheeling and Fishing. Denise is proud to be a supporter of WIB, because she knows women are not only consumers, they’re entrepreneurs and business owners who help drive our economy and create jobs. Zions Bank has ranked as the state’s top provider of U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loans for the past 18 years. Zions leads all other financial institutions in Utah in marketing SBA loans to women- and minority-owned businesses. We work closely with women and minority entrepreneurs, so we understand their unique challenges. Helping Utah’s visionary business owners gain access to the capital they need is vital to Denise and to Zions Bank, because small businesses play a fundamental role in our economy.

Drum  Roll…  2012  Women  in  Business  Annual  Auction  Results Well, Ladies – CONGRATULATIONS! We  accomplished  our  goal  and  surpassed  last  year’s  auction  proceeds by $279, raising an impressive $1,916 (2012: 46 donated items = $1,916; 2011: 52 donated items = $1,637) – not bad for a one-hour silent and live auction! One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction, nearly $2,000, go directly into the 2013 scholarship fund to be awarded to women who are pursuing their education in a business related field. If you are new to Women in Business and as a general review to members, below are the criteria and requirements for the annual scholarship program. Advertising and application distribution will begin in January, and applications are accepted through mid-March. If you know a woman who meets the criteria and requirements be sure to encourage them to apply. Last year Women in Business awarded $8,000 in scholarships, the largest accumulative dollar amount to date. Thank you to all members who donated items, those who attended the auction luncheon and who purchased items – this would not have been possible without your support. Also, thanks to Riverwoods Conference Center for donating the room, Elements for catering the lunch at their cost, and to our auctioneer,  Chance  Getz,  for  donating  his  time  and  good  nature.  Everyone’s  generosity  is  acknowledged and appreciated! Thank you all so much, Julie Sanders, 2012/2013 Past Scholarship Chair
