A little cabin fever……

This time of the year the indoor car shows are in full swing! I like all kinds of car shows, but I prefer the outdoor shows unless the indoor shows that we are talking about are ones like the Autorama, GNRS and such. Unfortunately plans for out of town shows do not start until this spring this year as I also need to preserve my budget for a late winter/early spring paint job! Thus far our winter has been very mild here in middle Tennessee with only a few days of temperatures in the single digits. We also haven’t had any snow or ice to mention. We have been very lucky thus far as other areas of the country have already been experiencing freezing temperatures and mounds of snow. Today the temperature is in the mid 50’s, and I have a few items on my car I need to check out before I make the decision to fix it myself or I determine that they need a professionals touch. I also have a little cabin fever, as I really want to get out and drive the car, but I have to fix these small issues before doing so. Some of my hot rod buddies have been and will continue to hit the indoor show circuit until the outdoor hot rod show season swings into full gear. I have a great idea of which shows I will attend that require travel and have a small list of the must attend shows that I’ve never attended be-fore to keep it fresh for all of you! I hope that a little cabin fever is all that is required to overcome be-fore consistent warm temperatures return and we can get out of the house and enjoy them! See you on the highways and at the shows here in a few months! WMM

Bench RacingBench Racing is defined in several different ways. The urban dictionary defines Bench Racing as:

1. To discuss quarter mile elapsed time of a car based on a list of modifications or horsepower estimate.2. To discuss the estimated output (in horsepower) of one engine versus another based on lists of modifications done to each engine.3. To discuss the estimated output (in horsepower) of one engine versus another based on lists of modifications done to each engine.

While I do agree with the Urban Dictionary’s definition of Bench Racing, Bench Racing in the context of this section of the magaine will be defined as:1. Discussion of ANYTHING automobile related between at least two individuals with the goal of passing time at a car show, sharing automotive related ideas, opinions or entertaining themselves or others.

Please feel free to share your bench race session wtih the readers by emailing:[email protected]

What are you working on to get ready for warmer temperatures? As a follow on to this month’s Story Teller, my buddy Chris same over to help me figure out my speedo issue. I’m pleased that the issue is figured out, but I’m missing a few key parts to get it work-ing again.

I guess the key part which is a coupler that connects the digital sending unit to my transmission was lost when the digital sending unit came off. It was just hanging there swinging by its wires. The little “drive shaft” that rotates and sends the signal was bent. Although it was repaired, the coupler is the missing ingredient to success.

Thanks to some quick research by Chris, we were able to identify what was needed from Dako-ta Digital to resolve the issue. Below are a few photos of the issue and the complete kit I need to have complete functionality of the Dakota Digital Speedo! For anyone else who may have this issue and has a 700R-4 Tranny the part number from Dakota Digital is: SEN-4165 Have a Great Day!!!! WMM
