During the rainy season of winter and early spring, the massive upper Wolf Creek Falls puts on a display of strength and power. Spring brings on lush vegetation and vibrant colors for photographers. Spring and early fall, with a light overcast, are considered the best weather conditions for taking memorable photos. The reduced water flows in the summer months reveal the delicate and complex channels and pathways that water has carved into the bedrock cliffs underneath Wolf Creek Falls. The 1.2 mile hike begins over an arched footbridge which spans Little River. The trail is disabled accessible up to a single picnic site located approximately .5 miles up the trail. The first half of the trail is classified as easy, but then becomes moderately difficult to Wolf Creek Falls due to steeper slopes. The trail is maintained by the local Wolf Creek Job Corps. Know Before You Go The Wolf Creek Falls Trailhead provides ample parking, a restroom and a picnic table across the road from the arched bridge. Visitors are asked to be respectful of adjacent private property owners. Camping is available nearby at the Bureau of Land Management’s Cavitt Creek Campground or other USDA Forest Service Campgrounds up Little River Road. The Umpqua National Forest manages several other waterfalls in the vicinity of Little River including Grotto, Hemlock, Yakso, and Shadow Falls. Additional information on locations and details regarding local regional waterfalls is contained in the Thundering Waters Guide. Directions to the Site The trailhead is located 10.7 miles up Little River Road (County Road 17) which starts from Highway 138 in Glide, Oregon.
