l  what we have thought many

imes. I  think   the reason  that

eople  have different ideas and

oncepts  that they present  is be

ause  they don't  understand  the

ew  birth thoroughly. Some pe o

e  have thought  that  we were

ust  justi fied . Thank God we ar e,

but we are m or e  than  justified.

We ' v e  become a new  man—a

ew  creatu re--in Christ .

This  man on the inside, which

s the spi ri t of man through

whom  God  wi l l  deal with us,

has b ecome a new man. The ol d

hings  that  were in this old man,

are gone now. Spiritual  death

was in the re . The  nature  of the

devil was in there. Hatred was in

here.  Lying  was in th er e. But

ow  the fo rm er things are r e

placed by the  love  of God, the

nature  of God, the  l ife  of God.

On  the ins ide we have a new

nature.  W e ' v e  become a new

man in Christ  Jesus,  old things

have passed away. This is the

man--this  inward man,  this new

man--that  is to be the dominate

one.  We ar e to liste n to hi m,

beca use it is through  this  man,

through our spirit,  that God will

guide us.

Thi s  inward man has a  vo ice .

We  ca ll the  vo i ce  conscience.

So met im es we ca ll it intuition or

guidan ce. If we haven' t been

taught  cor rec tly , however, we

wil l  not be able to  follow  the

inward  vo ice .

T h e r e  is much disc ussi on a m

ong  church  people whether or

not the c onsc ie nc e o f man is a

safe guide.  W e l l ,  let's put it

this  way : If your spi ri t has be

c o m e  a new man in Chr ist  Jesus,

then  your conscience is a safe

guide*  because your consc ience

is the  vo ice  of your spirit. It is

by  your cons cie nce , or the  voice

of   your spir it,  that  God guides

you.

It  is your spi ri t, not the  Holy

Spirit,  that  c ondemns you if you

do  wrong as a Chris tian . (Did

you  know that?) The  Holy  Spirit

within doesn't con vic t of sin.

Jesus  plainly said  that  the only

sin the  Holy  Spirit  will  convict

the wor ld of is the sin of r e

 ject ing  Jesus  Christ. It is your

own  spiri t  that  knows the  very

moment  that  you have done

wrong .  The minute you miss it,

you  know it in si de . If you don't

know  it  then  you are  just  not

right with God,  that 's  all  there

is to it.

It  surpr ised  me when I began

to  study  what Paul said  about  his

own-conscience.  I found out  thatPaul made some  v e r v  i l lumin

ating  s tatements  concerning his

own  conscience; I disco vere d

that  Paul said he al way s obe yed

his con sci enc e. That changed

my  thinking along  this  line. Of

cou rs e the sp ir it s of those

people  outside Chr is t, who have

never  been born again would be

unregenerate.  With the nature of

the  devil  in it they coul dn't

follow  the  vo i ce  of their spir it.

T h e i r  conscience would permit

them to do anything. Isn't  that

ri gh t? But when you have the

nature  and  l ife  of God in you,

your conscience won't permit

you  to do or say  just  anything.

We  need to be spi ri t-c ons cio us.

I  want you to notice  that  in

Roma ns 8, Paul said two thin gs.

Fi rs t he said, " The Spirit  H i m

self   bear eth witn ess with ourspiri t ,  that  we are the children

of   God. " To o many tim es people

think   that  this  witness he is

talking  about  here is a physical

something. It  isn' t  at al l. He

does not say that  the Spirit  bears

witne ss with our bodies. Feel ing

is the  vo i ce of your bod y. Reas on

is the  vo i ce  of your soul , or

your mind.  Your  conscience is

the  vo i ce  of your spi ri t.

If   you go by fe eli ngs ,  then  you

ar e goin g to be in tr oub le. How

many times, when it comes to

Christian experience, answers

to pra ye r and so on, ar e we m o

tiv ate d by our fee li ngs ? So many

times we  hear ,  "Wel l ,  I  believe

the  Lo rd  heard me--I  just  feel

l ike  He did." I always know thatthose peo ple ar e rid ing for a

fall.

What  difference would it make

whether you  felt  like i t or you

didn't? If the  Word of God states

it ,  it is  t rue.  If God said He

heard and answered your  p r a

yer ,  then  thank   God He did . So

bas e your fait h on the  Word,

not on your  fee l ings . This ver se

does not say  that  the Spiritbea rs w itnes s with our bodi es

or  with our  fee l ings .  No ,  it says,

"The  Spirit  Himse lf    bears  w i t

ness  with our spi ri ts. "

Remember  that the  Word  and the

Spirit a gre e. The Spirit wi l l  take

this  Word  and witn ess t o your

heart .  Jesus  said , "When the

Spirit of   truth  is come.. .he shall

r e c e i v e  of mine, and shall shew

it  unto  you ." He said to Hi s

disciples,  "He shall teach youal l  things, and bri ng all things

to your remembrance, whatso

e v e r  I have said  unto  you."

He  also said, "He  wi l l  shew

you  things to co me ."

He  bea rs witne ss with your

spir it, and He lea ds you. Th e

14th verse says, "For as many

as ar e l ed by the Spi ri t of God ,

they are the  sons  of God ."

Th e  fo re mo st w ay He lead s us isby  that  inward witness. It is not

for  us to te ll the  L o r d  how to

lead us. I know we can  look

into the  Bible ,  and into  Ac ts  of

the Ap os tl es and we can see at

times how some people re ce iv ed

some guidance and direction

f rom  an angel who appe are d to

them and said certain things to

them.

Too  many times I'm afraid  that

we  are seekin g these man ife stations instea d of list enin g to

what the  Bible  has to say.  V i s

ions didn't happen e ve ry da y in

these people's  l i v e s .  They  happ

ened a time or two in the entire

l i fe t ime  of som e. To o many

tim es, all the time we are se ek

ing  guidance,  that  inward  voice

is try ing to get our attention.

God  is try ing to bear witne ss

with  our sp ir it s. He is tryi ng to

get  our attent ion, tryin g to te ll

us, tr yi ng to guide us; and we

won' t  listen too many times be

cause  we are wanting something

else .

Many  times people  wi l l  put out

what they call a  " f l eece"  before

the  L o r d .  I  hear  that  on  every

hand,  " I have a  f leece  out."I  have told you  b e fo re ,  I tri ed

that  one time, way back in 1941.

I  put a  f leece  out, I  followed

my  f leece  and I got  "fleeced."

That cured m e . You neve r rea d

anywhere in the  Ne w  Testament

whe re it sa ys , " A s many as ar e

led  by  f l e e c e s ,  they ar e the  sons

of   God." Of course the minute

I  sa y  that  someone says,  "Well

now,  Gid eon put out a  f leece ."

Y e s ,  I know Gideon did but  just

forget  about Gideon. Yo u  are not

l iving  in the day he  l ived  in.

You  are not  l iving  under  the

covenant Gideon  l ived  under.

Thank God we have a new  c o v e

nant  estab lished on better pr

omises .  Of cours e we re ce iv e

a lot of help  f rom  the Old

Te st am ent , but one thing  that

r e a l l y  hin ders us many ti me s in

different  a reas  of our Ch risti an

l ife  is  going  back the re , taking

something  that  doesnlt apply to

us and tr yi ng to make it apply .

Many  times we miss out on the

real thing  that  God has for us.

I 'm  wel l  satisfied  that  if we

w e r e  to learn development, and

learn to  t rain  and educate our

spi rit s, in the proc es s of tim e

even  in the min or inci dents of

l ife  we would know insid e with

a "yes" or a "no"  just  what to

do .  We spend pr ac tic al ly our

entire  l i f e t ime  in the men ta l

re al m and in the physic al re al m.W e ' v e  deve lope d our  heads  alot

of   ti me s at the ex pens e of our

hearts .  In othe r wo rd s, the

knowledge  of our int el le cts has

taken the throne of our  lives

and our spirits which should

guide  us ar e kept loc ked away

in pris on, so to speak, or  shutup and not permitted to func

tion. That inward  vo ice  is seek

ing  to  g ive  guida nce to our

minds.

We  all know  that  if we had

listened to  that  inward  voice

there are a  thousand  and one

things we would never have

done. I f we had li st ened to an

inward  vo i ce ,  many times when

w e ' v e  i nve ste d and lost money

would  not have taken place.

If   we had listened to an inwardvoice  we would nev er have

chosen certain persons as our

companions. I'm not  just  talk

ing  about marriage, but also

about certain people with whom

we  ge t  involved.

I  know of several cases, much

l ike  that.  I'm thinking of one

 just  now  that  took place years

ago  when mone y was money.

$20,000 doesn't sound  v e r y  big

to us today, but  going  backinto depression days $20,000

was  a fortune. I re me mb er

back in those days a dear Sp ir it -

f i l led  man went in with another

fe l low  with $20,000—it would be

l ike  $200,000 tod ay . He lost

$15,000 in  that  deal for the

simple  reason  that  he  just

simply  couldn't  follow  the pr ac

t ices  that  the other man was

carrying on.

T h i s  man sa id to me , "I f I hadlistened to an inward  vo i ce ,  I

wouldn't have done  that.  I see

that  now."  Wel l ,  if   that  be  true,

if   God doe s lead us by  this

inward wit nes s and inwar d

voice ,  then  we need to know it.

that  we may have made.

Last  April  in one of your meetings, you

prayed  for me at the  close  of a service.

I  had been disabled five years with emphy-

sema. At the  time  I walked up to be

prayed  fo r, a warmth just kept g3ing

through me and when you pra yed for me,

laying your hands on me, it became more

intense.  You told me that I would be com-

pletely healed and that  this  warm  feeling

would  continue for about three we eks. It

happened just as you said, and for the next

three weeks I kept  spitting  up long strings

of black, dead flesh (or  that's  what it

looked lik e) . I went to the doctor to have

X-rays  made, not for my sake, but for

others who asked me about  this.  I knew

myself that I was healed. The doctor told

me that my lungs were completely cleared

up  and only sc ars remained. So I pra ise

the  Lord  for  this  miracle in my life. I tell

it wher eve r I go. And the spiritual part

is the best. He baptized me in the Holy

Spirit  two days prior to my healing, and

it is just too wonderful to even try to  tell.

We  have your books and enjoy them so

much. And as well as thanking the  Lord,

I  want to thank you and I thank the  Lord

for  men like you who pre ach and  teachthe  Word  and who have faith in it. E.S.

The Human Spirit

Your  spirit can be educated just as the mind can be. I have listed

are  as follows: 1. It  comes  by meditation in the Word. 2. It  comesby  practicing the Word. 3. It  comes  by giving the Word first  place.
