WE-KO-PA E X P E R I E N C EWhether playing Cholla or Saguaro, golfers are treated to an Arizona

desert golf experience unlike any other at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. The lack

of development encroaching on the award-winning layouts encourages

you to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Sonoran Desert.

At We-Ko-Pa, it’s just you and the serenity of nature.

NATURAL SETTINGWe-Ko-Pa begins where the city ends at the Fort McDowell

Yavapai Nation. Open landscapes, vibrant colors, and incredible

mountain views perfectly complement an extraordinary day

on the golf course. The surrounding Sonoran Desert is alive with

a wide variety of plants and animals. Coveys of quail scurry

along one by one. Hawks and owls swoop from perches atop

ancient Saguaros while coyotes trot down shady arroyos with

their noses to the ground. Thick stands of Mesquite, Palo

Verde and Ironwood trees, at the same time, create hazards

for golfers and homes for critters.

AWARD-WINNING GOLFThe two golf courses, Cholla and Saguaro, have much in common.

Both are meticulously maintained, receive high praise from media

and guests alike and offer tranquil golf experiences. Cholla features

desert-style challenges, while Saguaro was designed with a

traditional look and feel in mind. Both have been honored by

several industry-leading publications such as Golf Digest, Golfweek

and Golf Magazine.

The Clubhouse features “desert vernacular” styling with unique

details such as the sloped walls and wood-beam canopy that

creates a canyon-like feel in the entryway. A few steps further

and the patio opens to desert views as well as the eye-catching

water/fire feature that symbolizes the importance of woven

baskets to the Yavapai culture. It is also oriented to take advantage

of the many spectacular views of the McDowell Mountains, Red

Mountain, Four Peaks and the Superstition Mountains.

ATTENTIVE SERVICEFrom the moment golfers arrive to a smiling face at the bag drop to

the post-round stories shared over a cold beverage in the We-Ko-Pa

Grille, you can count on the type of attentive customer service that

The Cholla course offers a dramatic test of golf that plays through shady arroyos, over desert ridges and amid some of the most

picturesque Sonoran Desert on the planet. For this reason, Cholla is widely considered as one of the most pristine desert golf

experiences in the Southwest with sweeping views of the nearby river valleys, Red Mountain, Four Peaks and the rest of the

majestic Superstition Mountains. Indeed, the aesthetic charm of Cholla appeals to golfers just as much as its strategic challenge.

Open for public play since December 2001 and designed by Scott Miller, Cholla has racked up a host of honors on its way to

becoming one of Arizona’s most celebrated courses. Shortly after its debut, Cholla was named by Sports Illustrated as one of the

“10 best new public courses in the world.” More recently, Golf Magazine listed it as No. 45 in its ranking of the “Top 100 You Can

Play” for 2014. And in 2015, Golfweek bestowed Cholla with three prestigious rankings: 13th “Best Casino Courses” in the U.S.;

4th “Best Courses You Can Play” in Arizona; and No. 70 on the list of America’s “Best Resort Courses.”

Named after Arizona’s iconic Saguaro cactus, the Saguaro course combines distinctive desert-golf traits with the timeless traditions

of golf course design. For example, it’s built for walking with greens situated near the next tee. It follows the natural movement of

the land; they didn’t move much dirt. And the playing corridors are wider on many of the holes when compared to the typical

desert-golf designs.

The design team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw commented that the “boney ground” and natural slopes add an element of “sting”

to the course, as the golf ball will bounce and roll along the native terrain. Since opening in 2006, Saguaro has garnered numerous

awards and accolades. Golf Digest gave it the 21st spot in its 2015-2016 list of the “Best in State Rankings: Arizona,” which considers

both public and private courses across the state. Golf Magazine listed it as No. 41 in its ranking of the “Top 100 You Can Play” for

2014. And in 2015, Golfweek honored Saguaro with three prestigious rankings: 4th “Best Casino Courses” in the U.S.; 2nd “Best

Courses You Can Play” in Arizona; and No. 30 on their list of America’s “Best Resort Courses.”
