INTRODUCTION The method that I used to teach symbolism is
integrated using a variety of scaffolding instructions. Ensuring that students read, write and think is crucial to students since we want to teach them to become effective readers, critical thinkers and problem solvers. Hence there is need for multimodal resources. Fisher, D., & Frey, N. (2012a) felt that vocabulary instruction plays an integral part in understanding of meaning. Once our students understand the meaning of words and how they work reading and comprehension becomes less challenging to them. Also we must underscore the need to teach vocabulary as an integrated approach along the content areas because this helps with reinforcement and students are able to make connections to other disciplines. Fisher, D., & Frey, N. (2012a) denounced teaching in isolation.
COMMON CORE STANDARD Students will recognize and interpret
symbols used in content areas by using inferences and drawing conclusion.
Students will determine the use symbols in poetry.
