JUNIOR CLASS

U NDER the x cutive leader ·hip of the presi­dent. Grace Fowler; vice-president, William Wightman; secretary. Grace Villante; and treasurer, Glenn Pollard, the Junior have been very succe sful this year.

On November 16, a dime dance was held. This was followed by another. on November 30. A popular proj ct was the ·elling of green and white ba ketball pin . A paghetti up­p r wa' succe·sfully held on January 16.

The high point of the year was the ordering of Greene High School ring . The emblem i the same a that of the pre ent enior ring., but a vari ty of etting was chosen.

The last project of the Junior cia. will be the annual Junior Prom given on June 2~ in honor of the eniors.

At the beginning of the econd •em ter, a Junior High chool Student ouncil wa form ­ed. The repre entative from the ninth grade are Jack Spring, who wa · elected pre ident ; Marie Ouellette, ecretary and reporter ; Peter Engli h , the trea urer ; and Dorothy Weaver. One of the movements of the tu­dent ouncil was the tudent guid s who are to keep order in our hall between clas ..

The ninth grade ha held two cia partie . The fir t one was on October 2 th, with Mis. Williamson leading the recreation; the econd on February 20th , with Miss uddeback in charge.

We have had two honors be towed on u during the year. Fir t, we won the prize of a dollar bill for having the mo t arti tically dre ed hri tma · tree. The econd triumph was our victory in the cheering cont , t held in a · embly. We entered the conte t with an original cheer and new words to "Put on Your Old Gray Bonnet." For thi ' we were reward­ed by the enior' privilege of leaving the a ., embly fir t for two week .

ball play, "Th Touchdown." N xt came a one-act comedy, " Hurricane Hill ," which wa. put on in Hancock at the Play Fe. ti val.

To add to the hristma pirit, thr e one-act play .. "The Broken Crucifix," "Good Will Toward Women," and "In the Light of the Star," wer pre ·ented at a public per­formance .

"Spring Fever," a farce, was ucce fully presented in March in cooperation with the senior class a the annual three-act play.

PU LIC SPEAKING CLUB T HE Public peaking Club was thi· year under the guidance of Mr. Thoma · Gable.

The fir t project of the year was the E. L. Page Public peaking Conte t which ent it winner , Joan Gray and Robert ollyer, to the Public peaking Conte tin Depo it. Following came a patriotic a embly, with all member participating. After the long hour. of work, we enjoyed a leigh ride and party at the home of William Wightman. A trip to the peaking F th·al at Ithaca wa enjoyed in May.

Th club, along with peech groups in other schools , is making plan for a project in which we will learn and pre ent variou \vay of peaking.
