A volcano is a mountain of lava that can erupt any time. Many times the lava has killed people. On May 18, 1980 Mount St. Helens was one of the biggest volcano eruptions recorded in North American history. The lava traveled 670 miles per hour. The lava flow was 20 miles long. The volcano is in Washington (WA.).
