Pre Days 1/2: Saturday - Sunday, Aug 10-11US Travel to Amsterdam, The NetherlandsToday you will depart on your international flight to Amsterdam. Upon arrival we’ll be taken on a panoramic city tour before we arrive at our hotel. We’ll learn about Amsterdam’s colorful history, majestic architecture and liberal culture as we pass canals, bridges thronged with bicycles, houses and more. The afternoon will be free for yours to enjoy. Our hotel is conveniently located close to many of the iconic museums of Art the city hosts.

Pre Day 3: Monday – Aug 12 Amsterdam Canal CruiseThis morning absorb the sights of Amsterdam on a leisurely 75-minute sightseeing cruise. Onboard the famous glass-topped boats we’ll cruise along the city’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed canals and listen to the informative audio commentary about the city. We’ll pass by top Amsterdam attractions such as the Anne Frank House and City Hall, see all the gabled townhouses, bridges and leafy canal sides from the peaceful vantage point of the water. This afternoon is yours to spend at your leisure. (B)

Pre Day 4: Tuesday - Aug 13 Hotel to Cruise shipToday we’ll tour the famous Anne Frank house before being transferred to your river boat to start your adventure down the Rhine. After boarding, the afternoon is yours to relax or explore the area on your own. (B,D)

Days 1/2: Monday - Tuesday, Aug 12 and 13 US Travel to Amsterdam, The NetherlandsToday you will depart on your international flight to Amsterdam. Upon arrival you’ll transfer to your ship. After boarding, the afternoon is yours to relax or explore the city on your own. If your arrival schedule permits, you may wish to visit the Rijksmuseum, or the Van Gogh Museum next door. (D)

Day 2: Wednesday, Aug 14 Kinderdijk, The NetherlandsThis morning we sail to Kinderdijk for a tour of an amazing network of windmills and other flood management devices plus tour a working windmill. Return on board for lunch and an enjoyable afternoon of Dutch diversions: sample handcrafted Dutch cheeses and take in a culturally enriching presentation on the Dutch Golden Age. (800) 809-9910Begin your day with a morning tour of Cologne, Germany’s fourth largest city. Stroll through Old Town past St. Martin’s Church and visit the Dom, Germany’s largest cathedral. After some free time, return on board for dinner. Alternately, you may set off on an optional excursion to explore Cologne’s spirited beer culture and enjoy a Brauhaus dinner. Afterwards, return to your ship for a late-evening departure. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Friday, Aug 16 Koblenz & Rüdesheim, GermanyDisembark to tour the 700-year-old Marksburg Castle. Alternately, choose an optional excursion that offers a lively and informative tour of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, or enjoy a guided exploration of Koblenz on foot. Then enjoy an onboard lunch as you cruise the scenic Middle Rhine, where turreted castles and fortresses overlook the river from their hilltop posts. Arrive in Rüdesheim in the late afternoon. Spend free time in the pedestrian-only Drosselgasse and sample a glass of locally produced wine at one of the restaurants or wine bars. Dine on board your ship or in town if you prefer. Day 5: Saturday, Aug 17 Heidelberg & Speyer, GermanyAfter breakfast, disembark for a tour of Heidelberg, home of Germany’s oldest university, founded in 1386. Visit the beautiful sandstone ruins of imposing Heidelberg Castle and take in the scenery of the Neckar River Valley and the city’s many red rooftops. Continue with a walking tour through Old Town to Heidelberg’s renowned gates. On your way back to your ship, visit the historic town of Speyer and take in views of the imposing Romanesque cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its soaring interior features graceful rows of sandstone columns and a large stained-glass window. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Sunday, Aug 18 Strasbourg, FranceWe dock this morning in Kehl for a guided tour of Strasbourg. See the European Parliament and tour the interior of the city’s famed cathedral. The afternoon is free to further explore this Alsatian city’s blend of French and German cultures, resplendent churches, medieval covered bridges, verdant parks and handsome Art Nouveau and modernist architecture. Alternately, join our optional excursion into Alsatian wine country for an informative winery tour and tasting. Or, spend your day exploring culinary Strasbourg on an optional excursion. On board this evening enjoy a Taste of Germany dinner event. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Monday, Aug 19 Breisach, GermanyArrive in Breisach this morning, gateway to the Black Forest. Take a scenic excursion through the area’s renowned mountain landscape, rolling meadows and dense forests. Once there, visit a local workshop to see a cuckoo clock-making demonstration and learn how Black Forest Cake is made. Return to your ship for lunch. This afternoon, perhaps join an optional excursion to the quaint Alsatian town of Colmar to discover the storybook charm of its streets lined with medieval, gothic and renaissance buildings, and visit a fine arts museum. Alternately, choose an optional excursion that explores Colmar’s World War II history. Dine on board and cruise on through the night. (B,L,D)

Day 8: Tuesday, Aug 20, 2019 Basel, SwitzerlandAfter breakfast, proceed to the airport for your return flight. (B)

Post Day 8: Tuesday, Aug 20 Basel – Lucerne - ZurichAfter breakfast we’ll enjoy a panoramic tour admiring Basel’s bold and modern architecture as well as the history of this bustling city. We travel on to Lucerne to enjoy this medieval town set on a beautiful Lake. We’ll have a lunch stop before we tour the city seeing the quaint hidden alleys, Jesuit Church, the amazing “Museggmauer”, city walls and towers, and of course the Chapel Bridge. Our day will end in Zurich. (B)

Post Day 9: Wednesday, Aug 21 Zurich City TourToday we’ll see the best of Zurich on a highlights city tour. Our guide will show us the city’s top attractions, including the shopping haven of Bahnhofstrasse, the Opera House, National Museum, and charming Old Town. We’ll take an uphill ride on a cogwheel train to enjoy panoramic views and then take a one-hour cruise on Lake Zurich. We’ll then top off our tour with a stop at Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate shop.

Post Day 10: Thursday, Aug 22 Zurich travel to homeToday we’ll bid farewell to Switzerland and travel home with wonderful memories to last a lifetime.
