The members of our committee have worked together for the entire year to ensure you and your family will enjoy your time here with us this weekend. We have prepared and arranged for many activities and entertainment throughout the course of the weekend. Make sure you enjoy some fresh cut fries with our famous pulled pork sandwich as well. After last year’s successful, Grand River Amazing Race, we are all looking forward to watching all of the many teams cross the finish line and celebrate their success. With five different charity groups cheering on their teams, the finish line promises to be a busy place. Thanks also to the Amazing Race committee for their tireless efforts to make this race AMAZING, yet again. In closing, I would like to personally thank the many volunteers who, without them, this event would never happen. If you see someone wearing a VOLUNTEER vest, please take a moment to thank them. A special thank you also goes out to our many sponsors. It takes a lot of effort and money to create what you see here today. Rain or shine, we have to ensure these expenses are paid for. The support we receive from our sponsors allows us to stop watching the weather reports and continue planning the event. Without them, this simply would not happen. Grand River Amazing Race and Family Fun Weekend - 2013

On behalf of the Township, I am pleased to welcome you to Woolwich for the 13th Annual Family Fun Weekend and the 3rd annual Grand River Amazing Race. I invite you to experience all that Woolwich Township has to offer.

With our beautiful, picturesque scenery, plentiful green-space, vast rivers and expansive trails, Woolwich is an ideal location for hosting the annual Amazing Race. As a past participant of this fun and exciting event, I can speak first-hand about what a fantastic experience participating in this race was for me.

Woolwich is also known for its family friendly atmosphere that makes it a perfect host community for the Family Fun Weekend festivities, including a Carnival Midway, Silent Auction, Live Entertainment, and Camping.

As Mayor of Woolwich, one of my central goals is to continue preserving the environmental, and heritage institutions and sites that have made Woolwich a desirable and recognizable “community of communities” within the region.

Woolwich continues to be an active, vibrant and healthy community, able to accommodate and adapt to the changing needs of the Township. As with last year, I will be competing again in this year’s race and I look forward to competing to help support the five groups that will benefit from the Grand River Amazing Race. It is truly a worthy cause.

Woolwich is a wonderful community filled with remarkable people, a proud heritage and a strong work ethic and I am very proud to represent the Township. Good luck to all participants and have a great race.

Todd Cowan,Mayor, Township of Woolwich

Dana PassmoreDana Passmore is a 15 year old musician that loves performing. She’s been playing guitar for 3 years and started playing the ukulele.

We hope you enjoy her encore performance.

Soul SistersThe Soul Sisters is made up of two Mother / Daughter duos. Lauren Dally and her daughter, Elizabeth & Maria Ruigrok and her daughter, Olivia.

Lauren & Elizabeth are from Waterloo, Ontario. Lauren has been singing since she was a child and in 2006 recorded her first CD entitled “Released”. Lauren’s roots are in Contemporary Christian music and her music has been played on national radio and television. Elizabeth is 14 and became comfortable on stage at a young age. Not only does she enjoy singing and playing piano, but she is an athlete who loves to play both hockey and soccer.

Maria & Olivia are originally from Brockville, Ontario. Maria moved to Guelph, where Olivia was born and raised. Maria sang in the church choir with her Dad since she was a child. Although she plays many other instruments, her voice is her main instrument. Maria has performed from the East to West coasts of Canada, as well as being in various tribute shows in Las Vegas. Olivia sang before she could talk, and hasn’t stoppedsince. Her dream is to be a singer and she’s never missed a chance to sing at her school talent shows. Her Opa says when Olivia sings you can hear a pin drop.

Lauren and Maria met several years ago while attending Emmanuel Bible College where they travelled and did promotion for the college with a band called Clear Perception. Lauren and Maria are happy to be working together again alongside the other fantastic Team members at T.E.A.M. Financial Solutions.

How Our FUN Casino WorksF a m i l y F u n W e e k e n d 2 0 1 3

Lots of people enjoy playing some of the games that made Vegas and Atlantic City famous but not everyone wants to ‘risk it all’ on Red 9 or ‘double down’ on a nice hand of Blackjack.

We created this FUN Casino in order for those people to enjoy the games, donate to a great cause and not have to worry about losing the house!

For a donation of $5, you will receive an instant prize and $50.00 in FUN Casino chips to play the games. At the end of the night, if you have any chips left over, you bring them back to the registration table and ‘check out’.

Your name, along with the NET amount of your chips, will be populated on a list for bragging rights at the end of the night.

The top person with the highest amount of NET chips will win a trip for 2 to any Palace Resorts. *

Fun for everyone!

Silent AuctionF a m i l y F u n W e e k e n d 2 0 1 3

We have some great silent auction items that you can place bids on throughout the day Saturday. The items are in the large tent beside the stage in the field. Bidding begins at Noon on Saturday with auction closing at 5:45pm. You must be available to pick up

and pay for your item at the auction close time. At 7:30pm items not picked up will be donated back to the Kin Club of Woolwich. Take a look at some of these great items we have available for you to bid on!

Kin Canada is the nation’s largest all-Canadian service club organization. Kins-men, Kinette and Kin clubs across the country work to better their communities, enhance the well-being of Canadians and improve the environment. The Association boasts a proud 90-year history dedicated to fostering life-long friendships while ‘Serv-ing the Community’s Greatest Need.’

MEMBERSHIPMore than 7,000 members belong to ap-proximately 500 Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin clubs. Kinsmen clubs are predominantly male and Kinette clubs are predominantly female. Kin clubs have a mixed member-ship of men and women.

Clubs undertake a wide variety of local fundraising and service projects. Each club operates autonomously when determining how it fundraises and distributes the funds raised within its local community.

MORE THAN $1 BILLION RAISEDSince its founding in 1920, Kin Canada clubs have donated more than $1 billion to Canadian causes, communities and indi-viduals in need, as well as to disaster relief efforts beyond our borders.

HISTORYThe Association was founded by Harold (Hal) Rogers on Feb. 20, 1920 in Hamil-ton, Ontario. After returning from the First World War, he missed the camaraderie of the men he had served with. Looking to join a club, Rogers decided to join Rotary but his application was rejected because it was Rotary’s policy not to admit two members from the same business establishment; Rogers’ father, with whom he worked, was already a member. As a result of this rejection, Rogers and a small group of men gathered for a dinner meeting and became the first Kinsmen club - The Kinsmen Club of Hamilton.

MISSION STATEMENTCommitted to changing lives and making Canadian communities a better place to live.

“How do we get electricity to this area?” or “ How can we build that?” or even “Who knows where that is?” are all questions that have been answered with one name...Glen Adam.

Glen was a key part of the Family Fun Weekend since the very beginning, 13 years ago. His helpful, handy, nature made him an asset for not only set up and tear down, but also all aspects of the planning of this event.

This past March we lost Glen Adam, a close friend of our event. He was also a Charter Member of the Kin Club of Woolwich, and a long time, highly respected and valued Project Manager with Pioneer

Craftsmen and a partner in West Montrose Family Camp.

Glen passed away with family by his side on Thurday, March 7th, 2013, at the age of 55.

He will forever be missed.
