COMMUNITY INFORM ATION
WOMEN ONLY: Are you a “Martha” wanting
to be a “Mary”? Are you so busy with being a mom,
wife, daughter, workaholic, volunteer, etc….that
you do not make time for yourself and your spiritual life? Here’s your
chance to be a “Mary” and choose the better part. Attend the next
Women’s Cursillo Weekend. The weekend is held at Cliffview Retreat
house near Danville and begins on a Thursday evening, JULY 9th, and
ends on Sunday evening, July 12th. There is daily mass, time for confes-
sion, reflections, talks, great food and plenty of laughter. Fr Frank
Brawner will be the spiritual director. NOW is the time to register as
space is limited. We have 5 women already registered from our parish
and several more interested. We also have 2 women from our parish
on the team. For more information, contact Donzetta Hughes at 863-494-
7268 [email protected] or Mary Elliott at 859-221-0739
[email protected]. Where ever you are on your spiritual
journey, a Cursillo weekend will bring you closer to Jesus.
In an effort to improve communications and transparency we will start information about our Parish in the “Parish Council Beat". We hope to make
it informative for our parishioners by: providing information that will squelch rumors, ask for volunteers for some duties that could improve the
operation our parish, introduce persons in new positions, and provide financial information that enhances the transparency of our parish. The Parish
Council hopes you will ask questions of our members, and also use the "Pulse of the Parish" as a medium to ask and obtain answers to your
questions.
We want to send out a big "thank you" for the Lent Mission donations from Fr. Linh and the Parish Council. Our objective and results look as follows:
Goal Actual Results
Feed My Starving Children $5,000 $5,570
Amen House $1,000 $1,600
Gathering Place Mission $1,000 $1,600
We also had many parishioners donate time to fill the "food bags" for the Feed My Starving Children program. As a Parish, we should feel very
good as related to the time and money donated.
Our debt retirement program (red envelope) has generated over $50,000 through April 19th bulletin. This is great progress toward our debt
reduction. Please continue with your generosity.
Our weekly offerings are slightly ahead of expectations based on the April 19th bulletin. We show actual results of $446,211.90 vs. a goal of
$425,941.21. Thanks again for your generosity.
The Youth Group is sponsoring a Golf tournament on Sat. May 9 at Connemara Golf Course in Nicholasville. Registration begins at 7:30 am and
the shot gun start begins at 8:30 am. Profits will support the Youth Life Program of Good Shepherd and Ss. Francis and John parishes. You can
contact Ben Horn at 502-863-3404. See bulletin for more details.
Did you know that Bingo on Friday and Saturday nights helps to reduce the school tuition by $1,100 per student? Bingo is a huge fundraiser for our
school. They always need help working those two nights, so if you can help on a 4 or 8 hour shift, we would greatly appreciate your help. By the
way, with the right "attitude" it actually can be a fun evening out!
Finally, if you have any issues/concerns you would like to bring to Parish Council, please feel free to contact any of the following

CATHOLIC CHARITIES: Catholic
Charities is thrilled to bring back our signature fundraising event, A Divine Affair on June 5 at The Carrick House. Ten of our own Diocesan Priests will bring their per-sonal touch to the bar and appetizer buffet line to compete for the title of “best celebrity chef.” We are proud to announce that your Pastor, Father Linh Nguyen, will be a participant. This festive evening will feature our celebrity cuisine, an open bar, a live and silent auction, blackjack tables, raffles and multiple door prizes! All of the proceeds from A Divine Affair will benefit the social service mission our Diocese. A Divine Affair cannot be successful without a “Divine Support System!” Sponsorship opportunities are still available including The Archangel Sponsor level. This is a $500 opportunity for you to sponsor Father Linh and it includes two tickets and reserved seats to the event, signage, program, and podium recognition and 30 day recognition on the website and Facebook page. For additional information, please contact Cindy Mitchell at 253-1993 x 213 or [email protected]. We look forward to seeing the Holy Spirit crowd at the event to support the work of Catholic Charities and Father Linh.
