Introduction

The mobile can be charged any time, anywhere automatically.

This technology would eliminate the need for physically plugging in a Mobile phone.

The Microwave Signal is transmitted from the transmitterAlong with the message signal using speacial kind of antennascalled slotted wave guide antenna at a frequency is 2.45 Ghz.

The Microwave Region

Microwave wavelength range is from approximately 1mm to 33cm.

Microwave also emitted from the Earth, from objects like ascars and planes from the atmosphere.

Microwave have wavelength that can be measure in centimeters!Ex:micro oven, remote sensing, medical diagnostics treatment.

Microwaves are good for transmitting information from one place to another place because penetrate haze.

Microwaves are mostn used in communication industry.

Principle of Operation & Block Diagram

Transmitter Design

The Magnetron is a self-contained microwave oscillator.

Efficiency of high power oscillator lies between 50% and 80%.

Electron beem EnergyMicrowave Energy

Slotted waveguide antenna

It is used as ideal power transmitter.

It has high power handling capacity. It has 64 slots of power uniformly through free space to the rectenna.

Sensor

The sensor circuitry is a simple circuit.

The sensor will search the mobile signal, In addition it has a rectenna.

This is required as the phone has to be charged as long as the user is talking.

Thus a simple F to V converter would serve our purpose.

Rectenna

The microwave signal is transmitted along with message signal using slotted wave guide antenna.

Rectenna receives the transmitted power and it convert into microwave power to dc power.

It comprises of a dipoles and Schottky barrier diodes Usually its element arranged in the mesh pattern

Implementation

Recently NOKIA has launched this wireless charging technology in its new recent mobile model NOKIA LUMIA 1020.

Energy efficient charges of all size and shape to match our phone.

They are all quiet compactable, which means we use any chargers.

Advantages

The need of different types of chargers by different manufatures is totally eliminated.

Lower risk of electrical shock or shock.

Phone can be charged anywhere anytime within the location of waves .

Easier than plugging into power cable.

Disadvantages

Process is of high cost.

Wirelss transmission of the energy causes some drastic effects to human body, because of it's radiation.

It can be used in proper frequency ranges.

Future scope

In future rectenna is used to produce large scale power from microwaves beam .

This technology is also applicable for electronic gadgets which work on batteries and thus saves electricity.

Currently researches are going on, to implement the technology for laptops.

Conclusion

This technology demonstrates a method of using the power of microwave to charge mobile phones without use of wired chargers.

Thank you !!
