Triangle Drop earrings on handmade French

ear hooks can be made in different sizes, with

lots of beads or few, in any design that you like.

The pattern provided requires making a triangular-

shaped frame with 4" (10 cm) of 18-gauge wire, but

you can vary this by using more or less wire, or wire

in lighter gauges. Coil wire in different gauges and

metals and use your favorite small beads, spacers,

bead caps, crystals, or pearls.

1 Flush-cut several lengths of wire to coil on the 18-gauge wire. i generally cut 2'–3' (61–91.5 cm) of wire in gauges from 20 to 24 and may or may not use all of the wire that i coil. Clean all of your wire thoroughly with 0000 (superfine) steel wool.

3 Coil the wire tightly around the 18-gauge wire, with no gaps or over-wraps.

5 Flush-cut two pieces of 18-gauge wire, each 4" (10 cm) long.

6 Bend the 20-gauge coiled wire in half.

7 Cut the coil at the bend.

4 When you’ve coiled several pieces of wire, set them aside. you may or may not use them all in a single pair of earrings; any leftover coils may be used in various other projects.

2 Bend one of the lengths of fine-gauge wire over the 18-gauge wire, in preparation for coiling it.

8 Because the coil has been cut on the diagonal, you’ll need to flush-cut both coil ends so they have a smooth finish.

9 Place each coil on a 4" (10 cm) piece of 18-gauge wire and press down the coiled ends if needed.

10 Bring each coil to the precise center of each 18-gauge wire piece.

11 grasp a coiled wire piece in flat-nose pliers, just to the right of center.

12 Bend the wire at a sharp angle as shown.

13 here is how the two coiled wire pieces should look.

14 Place the two largest bead dangles on the coiled wire pieces.
