Set Design: Tracey Vo (1156604) Group 86
TYPE OF STAGE
The best type of stage is a blackbox because the audience will be able to see the actors facial expression better and since there is not a major scene change, they will be able to connect with the characters better.
ACT I
LOCATION
The play starts off inside of a Frank, Maria, and
Jonathan’s summer house
Their house is surrounded by snow and trees
INSIDE THE HOUSE
Majority of the things in the house are covered in snow.
Even though everything is covered in snow, it is suppose to provide a peaceful mind.
PROPS
The suitcase, skis, and snow boots that showed up in play, explains that everyone was trying to enjoy their vacation and have a good time.
ACT II
COLOR BLACK SETS THE MOOD
Following Maria’s death, the
whole house is covered in black
drapes along with black covers
indicating that everyone is
mourning her death.
Having everything in black
indicates that they are sad that
she is no longer with everyone.
SINGING AT THE TABLE
When they all sang
together, it shows that
they are mending their
relationship.
The table will have a little
snack to show that they
were sitting there and
talking about old times.
ENDING SCENE
One of the most
important scene is at the
end, where Frank ends
up alone with his head in
his hands.
This shows that at the
end Frank ends up being
alone.
It also create a sad
mood.
