This year the St James is excited to be hosting the Winter Wonderland Christmas party nights, in addition to the timeless Black & White Ball on New Year’s Eve.

The St James Hotel is an independently-owned boutique hotel located in the heart of Nottingham city centre, opposite the entrance to Nottingham Castle and minutes from the Old Market Square and Nottingham Train Station.

The St James was refurbished in 2014 to be a stylish sanctuary in the middle of a hectic city. Inspired by the grand palazzos of Venice, the interiors are bold, distinctive, but ultimately welcoming.

The hotel boasts 87 beautifully designed bedrooms, ranging from youthful Crash Pads to The Penthouse and offers the perfect place to stay following an evening of celebration.

Join us on New Year’s Eve for our elegant Black & White Ball. The theme is simple – wear black and / or white and look fabulous at the most exquisite party in town!

There will be live entertainment from our close-up magician and a lively disco that will continue until the early hours of the morning. At the stroke of midnight, enjoy the unique view of the fireworks display at Nottingham Castle.

Make the most of your private booking with a bespoke party designed to your requirements. Private hire is available for up to 110 guests for dinner or up to 150 guests in buffet style. We can source all aspects of the event for you including entertainment.

With having your very own private party, there is increased flexibility on the dates (we can even host the party in January) and our party co-ordinators can work with you to ensure that your party is to your requirements.

How toBook


Can we add people to our party?Unless we are completely sold out, we’ll always do our best to squeeze them in!

Is there a cash bar on the night?Yes, all our bars accept cash and card, however, the pre-ordered drinks vouchers and packages are simply a great way to save money – these are unavailable to purchase on the night.

Can we set up a bar tab on the evening?Yes, please inform the bar staff if you wish to set up a tab. An authorised credit card will be required.

What is the minimum booking?The minimum booking is for 8 guests for the Christmas party nights. A minimum of 2 guests for New Year’s Eve.

How will our group be seated?Our round tables seat between 8-12 people. Larger numbers are split over tables located directly next to each other.

Guests booking in smaller groups for our New Year’s Eve Black & White Ball will be seated on a table with our other guests.

Can we do a table plan for our party?Yes of course, we seat parties in groups, but you are welcome to come and add your own name places to the table on the night.

I have a food allergy - do I need to tell you?That is not a problem – we will try to cater for any allergies you may have. Please notify our events team of your specific requirements at the time of booking.

What should I wear?Guests are asked to wear smart attire for our party nights and the New Year’s Ball. Absolutely no jeans, t-shirts, trainers or sportswear will be allowed.

For the New Year’s Eve Black & White Ball, we strongly suggest wearing black and/or white attire only.

I have paid all the outstanding money. How do I claim my drinks voucher?Your drinks voucher will be given to the party organiser on the night

Can each member of our party pay separately?Unfortunately not – payment is only accepted from the party organiser – multiple cheques/payments will not be accepted.

How do I receive confirmation of payments and booking from you?All our correspondence is now via email so you will receive everything from us in the most efficient way possible.

What does the ticket price include?This is outlined in the “what’s included” section for the Winter Wonderland parties and the Black & White Ball

I’ve pre-ordered wine, how do I collect it on the night?Your wine will be waiting for you (chilled if suitable) on your table as you take your seat.

When will I receive my tickets?We do not send out physical tickets. Entry to the venue is via a guest list system by quoting the company or party organiser’s name. Your booking will be confirmed by email.

Where do I park my car?The hotel has a limited number of parking spaces (payable at the hotel reception desk). These are available on a first come, first serve basis and spaces cannot be reserved. Alternatively, parking is available in the NCP St James’ Street multi-storey car park (open 24 hours per day).
