After having graduated from the university, Chrity got a chance to

be an interpreter in the Canton Fair in Guangzhou. From there on

she started working in the trading area and has been doing so for

almost 10 years.

As a Key Account Manager for Dymak in China, Chrity normally

receives requests from Dymak’s direct customers, after which she

will either work with the supplier by herself or through a product

manager. In order to provide a good service to the customers and

have full control on the daily tasks, Chrity does in-depth research

of potential suppliers and well as factory visits.

My favorite part of the job is development. Project development is

where the rough, initial ideas take shape into real products.

The main challenges in my job are communication and price con-

trol. Communication and problem solving can be quite demanding

at times. Sometimes the projects are on strict deadlines and the

problems can’t be predicted in advance. Because the price for the

raw materials fluctuates constantly, it makes it difficult to maintain

the same price all year round. This is the part where I have to ne-

gotiate relentlessly with the suppliers and try to get the best price

for our customers.

I love being a part of the Dymak family. It is a warm and friendly

place to work. More than that, it is a place where we share our

knowledge and our happiness together. I hope our customers feel

the same way about being a part of our “family”, and together we

push our businesses in the win-win circle.

We founded Dymak China, a subsidiary of the Dymak Group in 2006. During

this time Dymak China has accumulated rich experiences and built strong

merits in sourcing, pricing, packing, quality control, logistics and has sustained

good relations with suppliers throughout the years.

From experience, it makes a lot of sense to manufacture our products in Chi-

na. Under the right management, we have been producing thousands of high

quality products yearly, and have ensured significant savings for our customers.

Based in the heart of China’s industrial East Coast we offer you easy access to

thousands of high quality world-class factories equipped to fulfill your specifica-

tions. Using high quality Chinese manufacturers to produce your products gives

your business the creative and financial freedom to concentrate your efforts on

building profits, not building factories.

We’ve got the know-how and industry contacts to quickly transform your con-

cept or design into a perfected production-ready prototype. We give you ac-

cess to qualified world-class factories and we will identify the most suitable

factory for your production, as well as employ trustworthy experts who person-

ally manage production and QC on your behalf. We offer you the full resources

of a partnership that brings you over a decade of hands-on experience in the

Chinese industry. This will help you avoid the many pitfalls and problems asso-

ciated with inexperienced companies sourcing in China.

The main products we produce in China are ceramic pots, baskets, zinc pots,

wooden pots, glass vases, stickers, as well as packaging solutions. However

we are always in search of new materials and technologies for our customers.

Born, brought up and educated in the capital New Delhi, Tanyaa graduated

from the University of Delhi, with a Bachelors in Commerce. After trying

different professions such as tourism and hotel industry, with little interest

in any, Tanyaa decided to study further in the pursuit of finding purpose.

Between the years 1995-96, Tanyaa went on to pursue a Masters in Inter-

national business, specializing in sourcing, merchandising, export manage-

ment and documentation. As a trainee, she was offered her first job as an

Assistant Merchandiser in one of leading HK based multinational, William E

Connor & Associates. The journey from the post of Asst. Merchandiser to

senior merchandiser gave her great learning opportunities. She was solely

responsible for catering to the Decorative accessory division of one of the

leading retail chains in the US called Pottery Barn.

By now I was in love with my job, because it involved creating new prod-

ucts, understanding what goes into the manufacturing from samples to

final production, costing, quality and delivery. My job involved my favorite

hobbies: travelling, meeting people and understanding what goes behind

the scene and building strengths from there.

Alongside her husband and co-worker Saurabh, Tanyaa brought her vast

industry knowledge to the Dymak team.

Today a typical day at work constitutes of projects, samples, vendor meet-

ings, deadlines, follow-ups etc. Due to the nature of our business, we are

lucky to have streamlined factories that have been developed to meet the

requirements (pots and planters) at Dymak.

As soon as we receive a project from sales, we send it in the form of an

enquiry to at least 2-3 factories based on their sampling capabilities, price

competitiveness and production capacity. We ask factories to make a pro-

totype sample and provide us a quote as soon as possible. We then take

price quotes from at least 3 factories before we give the quotation back to

the sales department. Finally in order of priority, from sales point of view

we place the order with the best contender.

I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my job, starting from communication with

sales and understanding their requirements to creating the product that

they visualized. The best part is receiving positive feedback for a product

visualized by someone else, but created by us.

Together with the vision and direction from Dymak’s founders - Claus Bøge-

lund, Søren Madsen and Edwin we have an exciting journey ahead.

Dymak India is the sourcing partner of the Dymak Group, found-

ed in 1997. Dymak India mainly focuses on developing and

manufacturing upgrades for flower and plant. Under the strong

partnership and guidance of the Dymak group, Dymak India has

built slowly but gradually on sourcing, pricing, quality control,

delivery and customer packing requirements.

Dymak India is based in a small town called Moradabad, 150 km

from the capital city of New Delhi. Moradabad is famous world-

wide for its contribution to the handcrafted metal industry.

PRODUCTS

Even though India is a vast land with diverse specialities, Dymak

India’s specialization lies in its metal products sourced and de-

veloped in Moradabad. Metal in itself has huge potential in terms

product categories ranging from garden, outdoor, home decor,

wall decor, table top accessory, lighting etc. As we narrow down

to partner the needs of the Dymak group, we are channelized

into developing and manufacturing zinc pots, wire products, jute

and glass; and to make a product more unique, a combination

of all.

The Dymak India metal range mainly comprises of zinc pots

in various sizes, shapes and finishes. Our specialization lies in

making handmade zinc pots, as the machine-made pots tend to

become heavy and thus not as price friendly. The white zinc that

is commonly used is already chemically treated and rust proof.

The best and most economical thickness of zinc is chosen to

develop the required shape.

Combining many materials and giving them innumerable possi-

bilities of finishes is what sets us apart.

An important sub category of metal products is wire, and a lot of

garden products are made in wire. The wire used is again white,

pre-treated to avoid rust. Dymak India is an expert at manufac-

turing the metal wire stands for creepers and many others.

The glass manufacturing demand from India is rising slowly,

even though it is in high demand for its handmade look, fin-

ish and style possibilities. The price point of glass from India is

slightly higher in comparison to that in China, but the styles and

finishes are far more unique. Most glass furnaces are based in a

city called Firozabad, 150 km from capital New Delhi on way to

the famous Taj Mahal.

There are 2 kind of glass that are commonly worked with: hand-

blown and machine-pressed. Good quality glass is free from

impurities. The hand-blown glass is more expensive due to its

labour intensive, yet decorative. The machine-pressed is price

competitive but requires a big minimum order quantity and has

design limitations.

Jute has a vast potential and many products such as bags, pots

and stickers are made of jute. The jute from India is best sourced

in Kolkata approximately 2000 km from the capital New Delhi.

Dymak India has done very few products in this category, but we

are working on exploring possibilities in this field.

SUPPLIERS

Dymak India boasts of a strong supplier base spread all over the

city of Moradabad. Our suppliers are shortlisted on the basis of

their manufacturing ability, their design and development capa-

bility, their price points or competitiveness, sampling turnaround

time, delivery time, cooperation and coordination with the Dy-

mak India team.

The usual procedure on receiving enquiries Europe and USA,

we ascertain the requirements of the enquiry and forward it to at

least 2-3 suppliers depending on their specialties. This also cre-

ates a certain competitive feeling and the suppliers are geared

to deliver their best.

Information with the sales is shared on the basis of best sam-

ples and prices received. At the time of order placement, we

once again try to re –negotiate the rates on the basis of final

approved sample and the best supplier gets the order.

The Portuguese factory we are working with was established in 1988 as a family business whose

ancestors had, since the year 1900, a close relationship with the making of ceramics. Conse-

quently, it accumulated an extensive knowledge of the craft having accompanied the history and

witnessing the evolution of the processes throughout the times.

Ever since, the factory has continued to grow while concurrently earning the trust of the clients.

The good business practices and a reliable quality product have led us to start producing pots for

flowers and plants in Portugal as well.

The Portuguese factory has proven to be a competitive supplier, combining modern technology

and expertise with more traditional aspects. The artistic tradition with their designers’ creativity

has fulfilled the objective of creating a product line that appeals to our clients in all respects such

as performance and functionality, eye-appeal, quality and above all – purpose.

In 2005 the brand “Portugal Terracotta” was created and is being constantly updated in order

to suit new trends and satisfy market demands. With our collaboration with a Portuguese factory

we have created a beautiful collection of trendy, modern pots complementary to any plant, any

season.

Dymak’s collaboration with a Portuguese factory has resulted in beautifully crafted, high quality

ceramics with simple, yet modern designs. They can be produced in virtually any color combina-

tions with a glossy finish, adaptable to any type of plant.

Christine Boland: TREND BEACONS x DYMAK: 1 + 1 = 3Christine Boland is first and foremost a trend watcher/trend analyst

with a background in psychology and fashion. Personally, she prefers

to be called a trend analyst, since an analyst better describes the ac-

tive role she plays than a trend watcher. Christine also holds lectures

and presentations, both in the Netherlands, and abroad and is con-

sidered by many to be an inspiring speaker or, more appropriately,

an inspirator. She gets her listeners thinking thanks to her surprising

perspectives. She also provides companies and social organisations

with advice as a consultant.

Find out more about Christine here: http://www.trendsmindsets.com/

TREND BEACONS & DYMAK“For us working with Dymak is an almost ‘ideal’ case because from

both sides the optimum outcome is achieved. The synergy formula:

One plus one equals three. Dymak offers extensive expertise, pro-

found knowledge, extensive manufacturing and global sourcing chan-

nels. TREND BEACONS filters important early signals from around the

world and shows in a clear way the different developments. What

drives consumers, what form language (trend) fits in with that and how

do you translate that into a specific product? For Dymak we design

styleguides in which the trends are translated into flower pots. This

styleguide serves both as the basis for their own, unique collection

of Dymak or of its customers and is also used as a framework for the

purchase of collections.

The synergy between Dymak and TREND BEACONS is special and

leads more and more into its own unique and recognizable signature

for Dymak. A great pleasure to be part of that with my team”.

‘Silent shapes’ – subtle structure, smooth materials and oh-so-deli-cate pastel shades. This style is all about simplicity, but not just basic. It is a clearly differen-tiated and cultured look. One of the main features of this style is yearn-ing for harmony and formal simplic-ity. Almond whites, dark browns, midnight blues, deep burgundy’s to-gether with tender tones of mocha, warm caramel and epidermal pinks make up the luxurious seasonal ba-sics.

Back to basics collection. Either in dolomite or in glass, the earthy, muted tones of this collection come together with a certain ease and are essential into any household.

The smooth shape of this pot with the elastic band around the lower half is a modern and simplistic way to highlight your flowers and plants. Neutral colour schemes are spiced up with modern colour accents.

This trend highlights the use of an intense color accent to contrast with a more muted primary color palette. The result is an imme-diate first-read dissonance that makes the accent color really pop as a vibrant element in an otherwise plain design.

Geometric lines and vivid coloured shapes add curiosity to the product and will enhance any plant in it. They are one of the most suitable ways of exercising creativity and one’s personal style.

Inspired from Pop Art and Art Deco themes made popular decades earlier, this is a playful, light-hearted and animated collection. It is char-acterized by primitive geometric forms assem-bled chaotically together on bold primary colors as well as pastel colors. The hexagonal shape print has evolved in recent years to become a truly modern graphic motif adopted across many mediums.

This planter adds character to any room, finished in a white crackle glaze with a bronze/golden rim.

Since it's slightly wider than it is tall, this pot fulfils the impression of its finish in its proportions: smooth-ly outlined, naturally coloured, organically pitted, it suggests something formed rather than crafted. Per-fect for transitional interiors and gardens, the plant-er works well as a large vase or terrarium.
