What is Club J After-School Program? Club J is a fully licensed after-school program for grades Kindergarten through Fifth, which starts on the first day of school for the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley school districts and runs through the last day of school. Club J is held at the JCC in the Youth Services Department, and uses the entire JCC’s amazing facility as part of the afterschool program – no other after-school program can compare! Club J includes pick up from your child’s school, daily homework help, sports, swimming and Holiday programs. It also sets itself far above the rest by the amazing weekly afterschool activities offered, the majority of which are INCLUDED in the price of Club J.

Getting to Club J Club J offers a counselor-led and supervised pick-up service from most of the major Scottsdale school district elementary schools such as Cheyenne, Sequoya and Cherokee Elementary, as well as other local public, charter and private schools. We also offer a free supervised walk-over for children attending Sonoran Sky Elementary. Please contact our Youth Department office for availability of pick up at your child’s school. New schools can be added to our pick up as long as there are three or more children signed up.

Catch A Ride Does your child need to be brought from school to the JCC for swimming or sports practice only and does not have a need for the Club J program? Take advantage of our Catch A Ride service and have your child catch a ride to the J! Please contact our Youth Department office for availability of pick up at your child’s school.

USTA Tennis ProgramNow with 10 and Under Tennis, balls bounce lower, don’t move as fast through the air and are easier to hit. Racquets are sized for small hands and courts are smaller and easier to cover. By using this format, the benefits are immediate and within a short time kids are rallying, playing, and excited to keep playing. That means kids will have more fun and less frustration. They’re playing real tennis and having real fun—and that’s what is most important.

Phoenix Rush Soccer Club ProgramMighty Rush Soccer Program is a unique opportunity to introduce your child to soccer. It is an eight week program which is run in conjunction with our Phoenix Rush Soccer Club. Mighty Rush will give your child a great start to this lifetime sport and will also prepare them for Rush U-5 developmental indoor soccer league which starts in April. The idea is to introduce children to the game of soccer by developing their motor skills, ball skills, and concepts of small sided games. The emphasis is very firmly on FUN! We feel that kids will be more comfortable and develop faster in this type of environment. Each child will receive a Mighty Rush T-shirt.

is played in a large octagon or hexagon called the Gaga pit. Gaga begins with someone throwing the Gaga ball up into the air. When it bounces the players say “Ga” each bounce for the first three bounces (sometimes two). Your back should stay on the wall until the third bounce is done. After three bounces the ball is in play and the game starts. Players “hit” the ball at each other in the ring. A player cannot “hit” the ball twice in a row unless it bounces off a wall or another person. When a player is hit, he/she leaves the game. A player who hits or knocks the ball out of the pit is also out. If a player catches the ball in the air, the last person to hit the ball is out.

BBYO Connect is the BBYO experience made just for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students offering social and meaningful experiences that will serve as a gateway to continued involvement in Jewish life. BBYO Connect offers teens a variety of experiences to help bridge the gap between immediate pre- and post- Bar/Bat Mitzvah and High School programs. The purpose is to provide middle school students with a positive experience in which they can get together with camp, school, and synagogue friends, as well as meet new friends. BBYO Connect allows middle school students to begin experiencing the privileges and obligations of being a member of the Jewish and general communities. Focused on service, social, and Judaic programming, BBYO Connect builds a network of teens across North America at a critical age when middle school students begin to strengthen their identities, form social circles and prepare for high school and beyond.
