Advantages of NPZ Bordered Plot system (compared to double plots)

• Half the working hours by drilling and harvest• Very accurate yield-ranking of varieties caused by

exclusion of neighbour effects• Improving of LSD values as for double plots (can

give possibilities for reduction in number of replications)

• Improved differentiation in lodging (as for double plots)

• Possibilities for using the border rows for late scoring of stem diseases (Phoma, Verticillium)

Disadvantages of Bordered plot system (Compared to single- and double plots)

• Increased need of land for trials (same as for double plots)

• Bigger tractor (ca. 50 HP) recommended for drilling• More working hours for separation of harvest plots

and border + manual preparations for swathing• Suitable Plot combiner for bordered plot system• Need of big combiner for harvest of borders
