Dr. Donald Sockett, Veterinary Microbiologist, University of Wisconsin, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Dr. Sockett grew up on a dairy farm in Southern Ontario, Canada and graduated from veterinary school at the Uni-versity of Guelph in 1981. After graduation, he successfully completed internship and residency programs in large animal medicine and surgery at the University of Minnesota and Colorado State University, respectively. He ob-tained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991. Dr. Sockett has authored over 100 arti-cles on infectious diseases of dairy cattle in scientific and lay journals. Currently, he works as a veterinary microbi-ologist/epidemiologist at the University of Wisconsin, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. Dr. Bob James, Professor, Dairy Extension Coordinator and Extension Dairy Scientist, Virginia Tech Dr. James is a founding member of the Dairy Calf and Heifer Association and has served as the conference chairper-son several times. Current research includes determination of management strategies for the use of on farm pas-teurizers in the treatment of waste milk for calves and management factors influencing use of computerized calf feeders. Additional work involves measuring the impact of improved feeding management on whole farm nutrient balance on Virginia dairy farms. He has made presentations and consults with dairies and feed companies in over 20 U.S. states, Canada, South America, Asia and Europe. James received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware, and both master’s and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, where he has been a faculty member in the Dairy Science Department since 1980.

Dr. Scott Nordstrom, Director of Dairy Technical Services, Merck Animal Health Dairy Technical Services Dr. Nordstrom specializes in immunology, conducting vaccine research and development for livestock as well as post-approval pharmaceutical and vaccine studies in dairy cattle. He also provides training in the areas of infectious diseases, vaccinology, immunology and diagnostics. He has played principal roles in researching the Vista® vaccine line and developing the DVM DxTM program. Dr. Nordstrom practiced dairy and equine medicine privately for several years, most recently as a partner in a veterinary clinic in Dayton, Virginia. In 2001, he joined Merck Animal Health Dairy Technical Services, the team he leads today. (via the dairycare 365.com website)

Dr. David Cook, Technical Services and National Accounts Manager, Milk Products Raised in Vernon, CT, Dr. Cook developed an interest in agriculture, particularly dairy through his father’s position at Agway and working at a cooperate dairy in upstate NY, operated by his uncle. Cook has held positions in technical sales, service and product development for animal health, veterinary application and livestock nutrition companies. His current National Accounts role with Milk Products allows him the opportunity to participate in product develop-ment, technical sales support and training with Milk Products’ innovative feed manufacturing partners, Renaissance Nutrition. Cook received both his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and his master’s in Dairy Science (Reproductive Physiology) from Perdue University and his Ph.D. in Dairy Science (Reproductive Physiology) from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Jeremy Daubert, Rockingham County Dairy Extension Agent, Virginia Cooperative Extension Jeremy grew up on a registered Brown Swiss dairy farm in central Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor’s de-gree in dairy science from Virginia Tech. Jeremy and his wife owned and operated STOX dairy in Pennsylvania and New York. He has been with Virginia Cooperative extension since 2013 as a dairy extension agent.
