In December, Maywood ParkCity Council Member Jim Akerscontacted Historic Parkroseabout a vintage Oregon Journalsign he found cleaning thegarage of someone who hadrecently passed away. Akers wanted Historic
Parkrose to find a good homefor the sign and someone whowould treasure this piece ofneighborhood history. Historic Parkrose posted a
picture of the sign onFacebook, and two weeks laterreceived a message from FawnGriffith, the granddaughter ofOregon Journal employeeVance Benedict. Griffith spent
many years working alongsideher grandfather at the newspa-per station and doing paperroutes. As a child, Griffith would go
door-to-door with her grandfa-ther selling subscriptions to thepaper, which by then was theOregonian. For every subscrip-
tion she signed up, she earneda quarter and a Snickers bar. After her grandfather passedaway, Griffith and her familywondered for years what hadhappened to that old sign. Historic Parkrose is excited to
have helped reunite FawnGriffith with a piece of her fami-
