SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS
This past September, we were beyond excited to welcome 39 wonderful new members into our chapter! We met Panhellenic's quota plus two, making PC '14 the largest pledge class Beta Pi has ever seen. The new class has assimilated remarkably well into our chapter and has already proven that they are a group of academically- driven, sociable and accomplished young women.
Throughout the week, we saw exceptional retention rates and our positivity radiated in our interactions with the potential new members. We had a fantastic Grease-themed Bid Day, where we blasted "We Go Together" while anxiously awaiting the newest members of our sisterhood. It was a successful Recruitment that made me respect and admire the women of our chapter even more than I already did. PC '14 is an incredible addition to our house and they make us all proud to be KKG! -Kaylie Gray, 2014 Membership Chairman

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS
Last year we created a Kappa Kickball tournament and this year we decided to continue the tournament, but honor it in
Kristy LeMond’s name. Kristy LeMond was a Beta Pi (PC’ 07) that passed away last year due to sarcoma cancer. Kristy’s
Kickball was organized by matching a few girls to be the “coaches” for each fraternity that participate and their job is to encourage the gentlemen to get as much participation and support
from their members as possible. The events of the week included a
kickball tournament, serenades, and a hotdog-eating contest. The winning fraternity of all these
events won a Pizza Friday visit to our house the following week
where they each got a free pizza. The proceeds of this event were
donated to raising money to host GIRLS Academy for the
following year and toward the Kristy LeMond Scholarship fund. This is a
great signature event of ours because women get to work with other fraternities and we create a fun and friendly competition
between everyone.

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS
We started off 2014 with a very fun winter formal at one of our favorite venues, a dueling piano bar in Seattle called Keys on Main. In
the spring we had a formal at Acquabar in downtown Seattle. Despite our formal attire,
almost everyone got his or her faces painted at the dance. This made for quite the collection of well-dressed funny faces! Once we got back from the
summer break, our first grab-a-date was our traditional Mariner's game. It was a fun first event to welcome our new Pledge Class. Our final event of the year was “Two Of A Kind” grab-a-date. It was so hilarious to see our sisters get creative in
making costumes to be famous couples, or iconic duos. We had an amazing year of social events,
and in the upcoming year we are looking forward to holding our Icehouse Winter Formal, which we
only put on every four years.

Study Abroad & Academics
Beta Pi’s have had a wonderful year of academic achievements. This past autumn quarter we were fourth in grades out of all the sororities with an all chapter GPA of 3.47. We also had 58 members make deans list last quarter. PC ‘13 and PC ‘14, who were the pledge classes that had the most improved GPA and the highest overall GPA, had a joint donut party to celebrate their achievements. We started setting goal GPAs and giving out scholarship pearls to the top grade earner in each pledge class. “Kappa Kourses” was created to keep track of the courses and teachers each Beta Pi has taken, in order to create a database of great professors and classes. It has been a great year of academic achievements with lots of excitement for the future! - Kennidy Takehara, 2015 Vice President of Academic Excellence
I chose to study abroad in India because I wanted to go someplace impossible to visit and come back the same person. In India, I took laughter yoga and cooking classes, met with entrepreneurs and influential business leaders, built a water retention system at a village school, and visited microfinance organizations. I strolled past cows and monkeys in the streets, rode an elephant up to a palace, toured the third largest slum in the world, and visited the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Studying abroad in India was an unforgettable experience and a perspective shift. The country is colorful, vibrant and beaming with hope and opportunity, and I can’t wait to go back! - Paige Lindgren (PC ‘13)

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS
A letter from the President Hi there, I would like to start off by introducing myself! I am Taylor Guse, a Junior here at UW and the Beta Pi President for the year of 2015. I am honored to be representing all of the extraordinary women at the Beta Pi chapter, and am doing my best to serve them and the Fraternity to the best of my abilities. I would like to take this time to reflect on our past successes and events during the course of the past year. In the summer of 2014, we sent four of our active members to the National Convention in Houston. I am very pleased to share that we received an award for our chapter’s Philanthropy and also had an honorable mention in the categories of House Board, Heritage Award (in honor of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Lake Washington Alumni), Gracious Living, Alumni Philanthropy, and Chapter Management. We were humbled and moved that the Fraternity had seen our good work here and thought to recognize it with so many awards and honorable mentions. Early September, we coasted into recruitment with freckled faces and stories from our summer adventures. We welcomed our new pledge class of thirty-nine young women with open arms and were delighted to begin this school year with our new sisters. Throughout the quarter we bonded with the new pledge class by having an elaborate bid day, an exciting big little reveal and a meaningful Initiation. With an Autumn Quarter grade point average of 3.47, we ended 2014 with a bang!
Looking forward, we have many exciting events and opportunities for growth that we are eagerly awaiting. This year, as we do once every four years, we are having our Icehouse dance. We are looking forward to serenading our dates and a lovely evening full of light blue Trophy cupcakes and dark blue snow cones!

SPRING 2016 THE LOREM IPSUMS
On a more serious note, this March we are sending four active members to our regional convention in Denver and are eager for them to share the knowledge they learn with the chapter. We have a busy spring quarter coming up, with our second annual “Kristy’s Kickball Tournament” to raise money for the Kristy Lemond Scholarship Fund, our annual Parent’s Weekend and Senior Appreciation Week in May, and Greek Preview following soon after. While all of the women at Beta Pi are extremely busy balancing their academics, commitments to the Fraternity, family time, and their other extracurricular interests, I can assure you that we all still have time to goof around and keep our sisterhood alive. While I am most definitely biased, I can assure you that the Kappa Kappa Gammas on campus are the spunkiest, balanced, and most loyal women around. Whether you are reading this as a parent of an active or as an alumnus, I can guarantee you that you would be very proud to be sisters and parents to every single woman in our Chapter. There is never a day that a woman in this Chapter does not motivate me to be a better version of myself and I am truly grateful that this organization has given me the opportunity to know all one hundred and thirty of these inspirational women. I would like to thank all parents for raising such honorable daughters and I would like to thank all the alumni for being the admirable women that we hope to one day become. Loyally, Taylor Guse, 2015 President

BETA PI WINTER 2015

This year there were five Beta Pi Kappas on the UW dance and cheer team! It was so fun being in the stands at sporting events seeing Kappas cheering on the football and basketball teams from below. Congrats on a wonderful year Monica, Kaylie, Julie, Tessa, and India! We can’t wait to be cheering you on again next year!
A week before the Super Bowl, PC ‘12 member Mackenzie was on the Ellen DeGeneres show, competed in a bowling game
and ended up flying to Arizona to watch the Seahawks in Super Bowl 49! Although the outcome didn’t turn out as we hoped,
Mackenzie had an experience of a lifetime! Go Hawks!
