Introducing...Two NEW Ways to Shop Goodwill!

As thrift and resale shopping continue to gain momentum, your Goodwill continues to find NEW ways to appeal to our current and new shoppers.

#1: VIP Shopping Pass EventNearly 50 enthusiastic thrift shoppers hopped on a charter bus November 12 to visit three Stark County Goodwill Stores. The shoppers received VIP treatment, enjoying special coupons, back room tours and refreshments as they spent the morning on this unique thrift tour. The event boasted tips from expert Thrift Shopping Blogger, Dina Younis of Dina’s Days, learning mo-ments from Goodwill staff about how the organization helps people through a variety of programs, and a special “back room tour” to better understand the process of sorting and pricing donations. Stay tuned for information regarding more VIP Shopping Pass Events in 2016!

#2: Goodwill Outlet StoreIntroducing a new way to shop Good-will in Stark County: the Goodwill Out-let Store! This new store model, which will be located in Springbrook Plaza at 4379 Whipple Ave NW in Canton is slated to grand open in late January 2016 and will prove to be the ultimate treasure hunt. All clothing, books, and household items will be priced by the pound and new merchandise will ar-rive on the floor every single hour.

Much unlike Goodwill’s regular Retail Stores, the Outlet will not be sized and colorized, but rather all merchandise will be placed in large rolling bins and wheeled out onto the sales floor as-is, for shoppers to enjoy the hunt. Furni-ture and larger items will be individu-ally priced.

This new Outlet concept allows Good-will to take the merchandise that has already rotated through its color tag life cycle at other Goodwill store loca-tions, and give it one last chance to be sold. You won’t want to miss this NEW, unique shopping experience!

Dear Friends,Growth - with purpose.

If I had to choose a “motto” for 2016, that would be it. In these pages you will find details on new store grand openings, and upcoming events. I want to take this opportunity to emphasize that with all of the brick, mortar, and fanfare comes a more intangible kind of growth - the kind that gives people new opportunities for better lives. Here is just one example:

In 2016, we will be well underway on a new Goodwill initiative focused on helping families on their paths to self-sufficiency. We are grateful to have received funding support from a generous community foundation that will allow us to engage a small pilot group with all-encompassing, wrap-around services that identify, address and reduce the barriers that prohibit individuals from fulfilling family needs. This particular program is working with families that are already fully engaged in the development of pre-kindergarten children – now, we are offering primary care-giver/s of these children the opportunity to participate in career services centered around their long-term dreams rather than a goal for tomorrow. Appropriately, this new initiative is called “Dream to Achieve.”

We look forward to bringing “Dream to Achieve” to many more people in the future, and hope you will join us on this journey towards more stable families and more vibrant communities.

This new year, we invite you to use the enclosed envelope to sustain our nearly 100-year old social enterprise and provide support for programs like “Dream to Achieve.” Thank you!

Ken WeberPresident and CEO

Goodwill’s Cuyahoga County Expansion Effort Taking ShapeGoodwill is continuing to grow our retail, donor and mission presence in Cuyahoga County throughout 2016. Plans for our expanded reach include a face lift to one of our current retail stores, two new retail stores and a new office in downtown Cleveland.

NORTH OLMSTED MAKEOVER!Goodwill is pleased to report that one of our most successful retail stores, North Olmsted Goodwill, is scheduled to receive a store-wide makeover, bringing the location up to our new store model standards. Upgrades to the North Olmsted Goodwill Store are scheduled to be completed in the spring.

TWO BRAND NEW STORES!New retail stores are currently under construction in Mayfield Heights and

Strongsville, bringing Goodwill’s store count up to nine in Cuyahoga County. Our new Mayfield Heights Retail Store is located at 6605 Mayfield Road and is scheduled to grand open in early 2016. The Strongsville Retail Store is slated to open in Spring 2016 and is located at 16180 Pearl Road.

Like all new model Goodwill Stores, our Mayfield Heights and Strongsville locations are being built with upgraded fixtures and signage, and a fresh look throughout to encourage positive shopping experiences. While we can-not wait for our two newest retail store and donation centers to open for busi-ness, we’re even more excited at the opportunity to serve the local Mayfield Heights and Strongsville communities through our employment skills training programs at these locations.

MISSION SERVICES OFFICE IN DOWN-TOWN CLEVELAND!Growing our mission throughout Cuyahoga County is top priority. Thus, Goodwill is extremely pleased to announce a renewed presence in downtown Cleveland with our new Mission Services Office. Goodwill’s new Cleveland office is located in the IMG Building at 1360 East 9th Street. This new office location will allow for quicker and easier access of services between Goodwill and our program participants and referral agencies.

Goodwill is looking forward to a new year filled with growth, opportunity and promise for all.
