Mobile Bay
Audubon Society
Winter 2006
A Chapter of the National Audubon Society Since 1971
Volume XXV No.5
Winter 2006
This years Birdfest was
once again a great success. For
the first time the weather cooper-
ated with the outside events
enjoying near perfect weather and
no hurricanes preceding the
Birdfest.
According to Fran Morley,
Nest Keeper, We sent out more
tours with more participants and
had sell-out crowds at both of our
evening events. The crowds at
Saturdays Expo dropped off alittle in the mid-afternoon (some-
thing about an Alabama-Tennes-
see game???), but they were great
up till then. Most of the mer-
chants, artists, exhibitors, and
presenters that I spoke with said
they wanted to return next year
and they expect next year to be
even bigger and better.
Over the next few weeks,
well be sorting through our
Bigger and Better Every Yearnotes, talking to many of you, and
figuring out how we can make
next year even better. Please e-
mail or call me with any sugges-
tions, comments, complaints, etc.
(Frank Morley,
www.alabamacoastalbirdfest.com
or 251-929-0922) We need to
know how we can do better.
However, I do know one thing
we cant improve on and thats
having quality volunteers like you
all!The Fourth Annual Birdfest
is scheduled for Oct. 18-21,
2007, mark your calendars.

The Marsh,
A Quiet
Mystery
The film will be presented
and narrated by award-winning
naturalist, Tom Sterling on
Tuesday, January 23, 7:30 p.m.
in Centennial Hall, Faulkner
Community College, Fairhope.
The film will take us intoone of our last explored and
therefore least known native
habitat. The mysterious world of
the fresh water marsh is critical
to the survival of many species
of wildlife. As we visit marshes
in Minnesota, Utah, Oregon and
Canada, we will become aware
of and enlightened by the
significance of this quiet mys-
tery habitat.Join us for this interesting
and entertaining film. Elizabeth Williams
