The Bardolino wine region

•Located in the north of Italy in the province of Verona

•The province of Verona has 5 different and well developed wine regions.

•The most important Veronese wine region is Valpolicella which is 15 minutes from Bardolino.

•25.000 hectares on the South-east shore of Lake Garda

•16 towns/villages

•7 months of tourism/year. Very touristic area with picturesque landscapes.

•14,000,000 visitors/year

•Tourism started in 1970

1986 = Methanol Crisis

- up to 40% reduction of wine sells for a few years- Big problems in our first market : Germany

1990 Zeni has 2 options:- stop the activity- make investments

1991 Gaetano Zeni founded theBARDOLINO WINE MUSEUM

- One of the first wine museums in Italy.

- 60 m2 inside area

- Employing 1 person

•1991 year of foundation. 60 m2 staffed by 1 person.

Simple venue for visitors to discover our wine culture as well as taste and purchase our wines. The person working in the museum is not a "wine professional".

•1998~ 120 m2 and 2 staff

Guided winery tours and small tasting room for guided wine tastings in Italian, German and English. The tours are guided by "wine professional” i.e. a Sommelier.

•2006= 500 m2 and 4 staff - 95,000 visitors/yr

•The staff are “brand ambassadors". They have wine and tourism knowledge and great people skills.

•2009 – 2012 =1900 m2 and 7 staff- 120,000 visitors/yr

Enoturism - not only while the visitors are at the winery but also after the visit, on line.

•Project for 2014 -2016~2300 m2 and 9 staff. Foundation Wine Museum, Wine Park,Multi sensory experience.
