FELLOW WINOS,For too long snooty and pretentious wine drinkers have intimidated us into beingnervous at entering wine shops and afraid to ask simple questions in restaurants. Fortoo long have we felt stupid for not understanding over-complicated wine jargon like“on the nose I get a hint of jackfruit” and “malolactic fermentation.” For too long havewe been tricked into thinking good, high quality wine needs to cost a lot of money. My brothers and sisters, the time has come to claim wine for our own!

Knowledge is power and we’ve assembled multiple ways to get your learn on. At theCrash Course Seminars, Boston’s most unpretentious wine experts are dropping infoabout regions like Spain, Chile and Italy. Arming the wine booths is a squadron of trained wine professionals, ready to answer your every question. Adding to the assault, we’ve brought in an all-star panel of experts in organics and biodynamics that will the break down this often confusing but incredibly important trend in winemaking.

Utilize the technological arsenal we’ve amassed and transform the way you shareinformation and learn from your fellow winos. We’ve partnered with two companiesleading the digital wine charge. Bin Ends is unveiling their “top secret” project, a newupdated tastelive.com. On Friday night, interact with winos on two continents atthe largest online wine tasting in the history of the world. Perform recon work withDrync, the free mobile iPhone app that will change the way you remember wines.

This room is fi lled with fellow wine revolutionaries, whether they are pouring wines, working the event or sipping great vino as attendees. Today we share a room buttomorrow (after sleeping in, of course) we will fi ght the perils of pretentiousness andthose looking to keep us down. Remember: There are no stupid questions and greatwine doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Go forth and conquer, my brothers and sisters.

¡Viva la Revolución!

DON’T HAVE TICKETS?

Tickets available online at wineriot.com until the day of the event, or buy tickets at the following locations until April 16th. Tickets will also be sold at the door (while available).

PARTICIPATING RETAILERS:

SPAIN: THE WINE WORLD’S WORST-KEPT SECRETSpain has more land under vine than any other country and hundreds of unique grape varietals, making it well equipped to offer consumers value, variety and quality. With “New World” upstarts like South America taking the lion’s share of the limelight, Spanish wine is poised to surprise us all.

PORTUGAL: OLD-WORLD COOL FOR PENNIES ON THE DOLLARAt a time when everybody is looking for tasty wine on the cheap, Portugal offers up deliciously cool and inexpensive vinho. Those drinkers brave enough to sample the fruits of Portugal’s vineyards can count themselves among the smartest and hippest of consumers.

ROSÉ: JUST DRINK IT!It’s springtime, and that means it’s time to drink the pink! These are dry wines with bright fruit flavors and are NOT to be confused with blush wines. Rosé wines are perfect for summertime luncheons, picnics, romantic evenings or general poolside guzzling. Just shut up and drink it!

MENDOZA? I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW HER!!There is more to Argentine wine than just Malbec. This country produces unknown but fabulous wines made from grapes like Torrontes, Bonarda and even bubbly. Sample the unique fruits from the foothills of the Andes Mountains.

THOSE CRAZY CALABRESEFrom Naples down to Sicily, you’re in tomato sauce country. While the grapes may be difficult to pronounce and nearly impossible to remember, the wines are fan-damn-tastic. Sample vino like Ciro, Negroamaro, Primitivo, Nero d’Avola and Falanghina on this mini tour of southern Italy.

IS THAT A MAGNUM OR ARE YOU JUST HAPPY TO SEE ME?You know what they say about wines in big bottles, right? Austrians and some Alsatians bottle in 1L. There is quality wine now coming in boxes and magnums (1.5L bottles), which not only turn boring nights into a party, but they age and taste different. Learn why size does matter.

(RE)DISCOVERING CHILEAN CARMÉNÉRE: COMEDY OR MYSTERY?The French forgot about this grape decades ago, but it recently resurfaced in Chile and is teetering on the brink of rock-stardom. Hear and taste the full story on this awesome grape.

CHILE’S PAST AND PRESENT: WHY YOU SHOULD BE DRINKING CHILEAN WINE NOW!In a short amount of time (relatively speaking), this country’s wine making has come a long way. Contemporary Chilean winemakers and modern international influence have led to new wine regions with some kickass yet completely affordable vino.

DRINK MORE WINE (BUT DON’T GO OVERBOARD)Maximize your time at the Riot! Make sure to sip away, but not too much. Most importantly, take the time to learn about the wines you’re drinking. The people pouring are wine experts, not your personal bartenders; please treat them with the respect they deserve.

LEARN !It’s a rare occurrence to find so many wine experts in one room. The people pouring your wine came here to answer your questions and teach you about the wines and their delicious grapes. They’re knowledgeable and friendly. Take advantage of their insight.

HYDRATE !You can’t get enough water in your system. It keeps your body healthy, hydrated and will keep you looking smoking hot! It will also help you feel a lot better tomorrow morning. Water is your friend and being provided FREE by OGO water. Drink it!

EAT !Food replenishes your body and helps to absorb the delicious vino so you don’t fi nd yourself stumbling after a few sips. There’s nothing cute about a drunk who can’t hold their wine, so please make sure to eat some food at the Riot.

SHARE !Tweet, text, send photos or Facebook via the free WiFi, but make sure to chat, fl irt or exchange biz cards with the real person next to you. Wine is a social beverage and this is a social event. Respect your fellow attendees and take the time to make friends with them as well.

There are hundreds of people in the same room as you. Sing, dance, make new friends and learn as much as you can. By all means, we want you to have a fun time, but please respect the experts pouring the wine, the Wine Riot staff and volunteers, and of course, the people around you.
