A quest for perfection
Champagne, France
Founded MMD in 1986
Champagne Louis Roederer was established in 1776 and remains under the ownership of
the Rouzaud family to this day. With over 240 hectares of vineyards located exclusively in
Grands and Premiers Crus villages, Champagne Louis Roederer is self-sufficient for
approximately 75% of their non-vintage production and 100% of their vintage champagnes.
The current CEO is Frédéric Rouzaud, 7th generation of the Roederer family. Jean-Baptiste
Lécaillon has been the Chef de Cave since 1999, and with the encouragement of the
Rouzaud family, has introduced innovative new schemes, including the introduction of
biodynamic farming, a private vine nursery, an experimental vineyard, a zero dosage
champagne and a late release Cristal and the introduction of the Cristal Vinothéque.
The house has been experimenting with organic and biodynamic viticulture since 2000. All
of their vines are now farmed organically making them the largest farmers of organic vines
in the region. 122 hectares are certified organic and those same 122 hectares are, in fact,
farmed biodynamically. The remaining 118 hectares are farmed organically but certified
sustainable with zero herbicides. Research, innovation and sustainability are cornerstones
of the Roederer philosophy.
Champagne Louis Roederer makes a range of styles, including: Brut Premier NV, Brut
Vintage, Rosé Vintage, Blanc de Blancs, Carte Blanche, and the recently released Vintage
Brut Nature, made in collaboration with the designer Philippe Starck.
Cristal is the ultimate Cuvée de Prestige, first created in 1876 for Tsar Nicholas II of Russia.
The bottle, made from clear crystal with a flat base, has become iconic, instantly
recognisable around the world. Only made in the best vintages, Cristal has become
synonymous with quality, elegance and longevity.

Building on 200 years of winemaking excellence
Anderson Valley, California
Joined MMD in 1995Quartet
Champagne Louis Roederer produces traditional method sparkling wine at the Roederer
Estate winery, nestled in Mendocino County’s cool, fog-shrouded Anderson Valley. Quartet
builds upon centuries of Louis Roederer winemaking experience and has established a
reputation as one of California’s premier sparkling wines.
Jean-Claude Rouzaud selected the 235ha Anderson Valley vineyard and winery site in
1982. The Anderson Valley offers a cool climate and well-drained soils which are ideally
suited to Louis Roederer’s winemaking style. Roederer Estate produces Quartet from 100%
Estate grown fruit and they are constantly increasing their organic and biodynamic grape
growing in order to maximise quality and preserve the local environment. All fruit is grown
sustainably and the vineyards and winery are Fish Friendly Certified to reflect the Estate’s
commitment to local waterways.
Domaine Anderson
Jean-Claud Rouzaud discovered this remote corner of Mendocino County in 1980s,
recognising it as the perfect location to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes for still
wines.
Domaine Anderson is 100% sustainable and is committed to maintaining and nurturing the
local environment. The winery has introduced biodynamic and organic farming to their
vineyards and is experimenting with “insectaries” and bee colonies to increase biodiversity
and to preserve the health of the land for generations to come. Furthermore, the Domaine
Anderson Wines are made from 100% estate grown fruit. Carpe Diem is produced by the
Roederer Estate winemaking team and all grapes are sourced from the Estate.

Pioneers of the Douro Since 1880
Joined MMD 1990
Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio and immediately
became noted for its quality wines and distinctive art nouveau imagery. Ramos Pinto is run
today by Jorge Rosas alongside his cousin Ana Rosas as Master Blender.
The house has always had a pioneering spirit in search for quality wine and port, indeed
Joao Nicolau de Almeida was famous for officially identifying the five key grape varieties
best suited for wine production in the Douro. Furthermore, he introduced and developed
vertical vine planting techniques to the region and has advanced Port and wine production
by building two of the most modern wineries in the Douro.
In 1990 Ramos Pinto became part of the Champagne Louis Roederer group, which shares
a similar family owned history and has since enjoyed significant investment and further
improvements in quality.
Ramos Pinto tends 187 hectares of prime vineyards in the Alto Corgo and Douro Superior
areas of the famed Douro region. The four ‘quintas’ or ‘estates’ that make up Ramos
Pinto’s holdings are: Quinta do Bom Retiro, Quinta da Urtiga, Quinta dos Bons Ares, and
Quinta da Ervamoira.
Ramos Pinto also produce Duas Quintas, exceptional red table wines from the Ervamoira
and Bons Ares vineyards in the Douro region of Portugal.

Bandol and Côtes de Provence, France
Joined MMD 2005
Domaines Ott* was founded in 1912 by Marcel Ott, an agricultural engineer from Alsace who
dreamed of establishing a great wine estate near the Mediterranean. He proceeded to found
estates in both the Bandol and Côtes de Provence appellations, and his rosés have earned
the reputation of being some of the finest vintage rosés in the world.
Domaines Ott* was managed by Marcel’s descendants until 2004, when the Estates were
purchased by Champagne Louis Roederer to add to their impressive portfolio of iconic
Domaines. Several Ott family members still remain involved in the winery and vineyards.
Clos Mireille, in Côtes de Provence, devotes 50 hectares to the production of rosé in the
Saignée method and Blanc de Blancs from a blend of Sémillon and Rolle. The Blanc de
Blancs is fresh and bright, with tangerine, peach and quince on the palate and a moreish
finish. It is the perfect summer white.
Chȃteau Romassan, situated at the foot of the village of Le Castellet in the heart of the
Bandol, produce stunning rosé and red wines from a blend of local varieties. The Chȃteau
Romassan Rosé has been dubbed ‘one of France’s greatest Rosés’ by Will Lyons. This is
everything that you want from a Rosé – ripe berries, flowers and a touch of orange with a
beautifully textured palate.
The secret behind the Ott star: at the turn of the 20th century, Marcel Ott wanted to patent his
name and law required that he add a distinctive symbol. He chose the star!

The Rhône, France
Joined MMD 2018
Founded 160 years ago in the heart of the northern Côtes du Rhône, Delas Freres crafts
world class wines from both northern and southern Rhône. Tending the steep sloping
vineyards, which total some 30 hectares of vines, the team adapt their growing practices to
each plot of vines to let the terroir of the Rhône shine through in the wines.
Crafted by winemaker Jacques Grange (who is originally from Burgundy), the wines from
Delas Freres epitomise finesse and elegance. Recent vintages from the vineyards of
Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Côtes-du-
Rhône and Côtes-du-Ventoux have been lauded in the press for their intensity of flavour and
excellent value.
The winery was founded in 1835 when Charles Audibert and Philippe Delas bought Maisons
Junique, a 40-year-old winery which they renamed Audibert & Delas. Philippe Delas had two
sons, Henri and Florentin. The latter married the daughter of Charles Audibert, further
strengthening the bond between the two families. In 1924, the brothers succeeded to the
founders and changed the name of the house to Delas Freres.
The House experienced rapid growth after World War II and, by 1960, the winery had
become one of the major houses in the Northern Rhône. In 1981, the house moved to its
current premises in Saint Jean de Muzols. In 1993 Delas Freres became part of the
Champagne Louis Roederer group, which shares a similar family owned history and pursuit
of excellence. The latest project from the domaine is the completion of a state of the art
winery in Tain l’Hermitage, underlying their commitment to producing the highest quality
wines.
The Domaine cultivates vineyards on the steep granite slopes of the northern Rhône, in
some of the region’s most prestigious appellations. Additional grapes are supplied through
long-term agreements with southern Rhône growers dedicated to providing only top quality
grapes.

Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
Joined MMD 2007
Founded in 1689 by Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan, the vineyard acquired its name a few
years later when his daughter Thérèse received it as part of her dowry on her marriage to
Jacques de Pichon Longueville, the first President of the Parliament of Bordeaux.
In 1850 the Pauillac estate was divided between Baron Joseph’s children, Raoul and
Virginie. Virginie married Count Henri de Lalande, giving her the title Comtesse de Lalande,
and took over control of the Domaine. She became known for her passion and skill, and left
her mark on this historic estate. In the 1855 classification Château Pichon Longueville
Comtesse de Lalande acquired the status of Deuxième Cru Classé.
Continuing the tradition of family ownership, Champagne Louis Roederer took over the
controlling share of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in November 2006.
The vineyards at Pichon border the property of Château Latour and stretch south of
Pauillac towards the Commune of St Julien, where a combination of soil and microclimate
results in wines with inimitable concentration, complexity and charm.
Champagne Louis Roederer’s on-going investment has seen the Château completely
renovated, with a state-of-the-art chais completed in 2014, and the rebuilding and
modernisation of the Château’s wine making facilities.

Château de Pez
Château de Pez can be found in Saint-Estèphe, on the Left Bank of the Gironde River in
Bordeaux. The Pontac family, who also created Haut-Brion, were the first to plant vineyards
at Château de Pez in the eighteenth century. The property remained in the hands of the
family’s descendants until the French Revolution, when it was sold as a property of the
state.
Champagne Louis Roederer purchased the Château de Pez estate in June 1995 and
immediately set about improving the vineyards and cellars. 1996 was the first vintage
produced entirely under the new ownership, and quality has been improving ever since.
There are currently 42 hectares under vine with the aim of raising this to 45 hectares.
There are a few hectares of experimental biodynamic vines
The wines of Château de Pez are sometimes referred to as the ‘Pomerols’ of Saint-
Estèphe, due to the smooth roundness that the Estate’s Merlot grapes bring to the wines.
Château Haut-Beauséjour
In 1992, Champagne Louis Roederer discovered two properties in the heart of Saint-
Estèphe – Château Picard and Château Beauséjour – both of which received Cru
Bourgeois status in 1932. Together, the pair formed an estate of 27 hectares of vineyards,
which was renamed Château Haut-Beauséjour.
Champagne Louis Roederer drew up a quality charter for Château Haut-Beauséjour,
encompassing vine size, debudding, green harvesting, a return to manual harvesting and
double grape selection. In 1993, the cellars and cuverie were entirely renovated with top-of-
the-range equipment installed at the Château.

A Nuits Saint Georges depuis 1825
Burgundy, France
Joined MMD 1997
A love of wine has been passed on from one Faiveley generation to the next for more than
180 years. The Domaine has always remained in the same family and is completely
independent. Today Erwan, the 7th generation of the Faiveley family, is at the helm and is
keen to respect the traditions and savoir-faire of the family while looking to the future.
An impressive 80% of Domaine Faiveley’s wines are made from fruit grown in the family’s
vineyards and nearly all of its Côte d’Or wines. With six Monopole vineyards (totalling 38%
of the Domaines own vineyards) and vineyards in the most prestigious Crus – Corton,
Corton-Charlemagne, Mazis-Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Latricières-
Chambertin, Musigny, Echézeaux and Clos Vougeot – Domaine Faiveley produce wines
that showcase the qualities of each vineyard site.
Domaine Faiveley believes that the quality of the wines comes from the fruit. To make sure
they are able to get the best fruit and resulting wines, the team has invested in separate
winemaking and viticulture teams in the Côte d’Or and Côte Chalonnaise, fine tuned their
barrel selection, and built a state-of-the-art winery in Mercurey. Last year, the family
completed the renovation of their cellars in the heart of Nuits-St-Georges.
The result is classic Burgundies with wonderful longevity, aromatics and an unique, elegant
style. Recognised as one of the finest producers in Burgundy, the Domaine continues to go
from strength to strength under Erwan’s watchful eye.

A Chablis depuis 1815
Chablis, France
Joined MMD 2019
Domaine Billaud-Simon is renowned for producing some of the best wines in Chablis, long
recognised for their steely, mineral style. Founded in 1815, the estate today is owned by the
Faiveley family of famed Burgundian producer, Domaine Faiveley.
Domaine Billaud-Simon owns 17 hectares of vineyards in some of the best areas in Chablis.
With four grand cru (Les Clos, Les Preuses, Vaudesir and Les Blanchots), as well as four
premier cru, (Montée de Tonnerre, Mont-de-Milieu, Fourchaume and Vaillons). The
domaine has long been known for its focused, mineral-driven wines thanks to meticulous
viticulture in the best sites along with the latest winemaking technology.
Most of the domaine’s wines see only a touch of oak, apart from the Premier Cru Mont de
Milieu which is 40% vinified in oak and the Grand Cru Les Blanchots, which is 100% vinified
in oak. Billaud-Simon seek to produce a crisp, mineral style of Chablis with finesse, purity
and balance. They are delicious when young, yet offer great ageing potential – the high
acidity is complimented by richness of fruit, particularly in the Grand Crus which will typically
improve in bottle for at least a decade.
These are crisp, mineral-laden wines that are superb examples of modern style, unoaked
Chablis.

Domaines Schlumberger was founded in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, who established
vineyards on the renowned slopes above the town of Guebwiller. The winery is now run by
the 6th and 7th generations of the same family.
These vineyard sites have a long history of viticulture, having been planted since 207 AD.
Domaines Schlumberger now owns 130 hectares of vineyards, 70 of which are Grand Cru,
which makes them not only the largest owner of vineyards in Alsace, but also the largest
owner of Grand Cru in the region.
Alain Beydon-Schlumberger runs the winery with his nephew, Thomas, and niece, Séverine.
Alain Freyburger joined the team in 1995 and has been Cellar Master since 2000, working
closely alongside Vineyard Manager, Michel Otterman.
The combination of perfect exposure (south and south east) and a cooling breeze allows
Schlumberger’s organically farmed grapes to reach optimum maturity. Yields are much
lower than the regional average, and a clear focus is placed on producing terroir-driven
wines of exceptional quality, with remarkable purity of fruit.

Defining the Loire as the 'home of Sauvignon Blanc'
Loire, France
Joined MMD 1992
Pascal Jolivet was founded in 1987 and is now one of the most dynamic domaines in
France’s Loire Valley. Based in Sancerre, the domaine now owns 90 hectares of vineyards
spread across the appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, plus an additional 50
hectares in Touraine.
Pascal and his winemaker, Valentina Buoso, share a clear philosophy: to work in harmony
with nature to produce wines that show a clear sense of place and varietal character. Pascal
believes in minimum intervention in the vineyard and during winemaking. His vineyards,
cellar and winery are all one system, working together in symbiosis to produce wines of
exceptional quality in harmony with the environment.
According to Pascal, “if you have the best terroir and the best grapes, there is no need to
interfere”.
“I do a kind of biodynamic vinification that takes time, but results in wines you can drink and
enjoy. My wines have finesse, elegance, and purity, with clean aromas and flavours. There
is a paradox in the winery, because I use technology, but only to control fermentation, not to
interfere.
I have a strong philosophy that our wine is meant to compliment food. We follow our own
logical approach to respect the grapes and make Sauvignon Blanc wines that are fruity and
vibrant” – Pascal Jolivet

Rioja since 1852

Marqués de Murrieta was established in 1852 by Luciano Francisco Ramón de Murrieta. It
was one of the first Rioja Houses to be established, and continues to thrive today. Luciano
was appointed Marqués de Murrieta by Queen Isabel II for pioneering winemaking in the
Rioja region. After his death in 1911, the bodega was taken over by the Olivares family and
then in 1983 by D. Vicente Cebrián-Sagarriga, Count of Creixell. The new owner’s aim was
to establish Marqués de Murrieta among the best wineries in the world. His sudden death in
1996 left the vision only partly fulfilled. The baton was passed onto his son Vicente Dalmau
who proceeded to revolutionise the entire estate, investing significantly in the vineyards and
winery to take the bodega into the 21st century.
All grapes are sourced from the 300 hectare Ygay Estate, situated near Logroño in Rioja
Alta. The philosophy is one of quality, with low yields in the vineyard and limited production
in the winery. Truly handmade, world class wines from the oldest family owned estate in
Rioja.
Maria Vargas, head winemaker, brings youth and modern ideas to the historic bodega. She
continues to develop the ‘Murrieta’ signature style, highlighting more of the natural fruit
flavours and creating supple yet age-worthy reds and fresh, aromatic whites from the
traditional Rioja grape varieties.
Marqués de Murrieta also own Pazo Barrantes, the ancestral home to the Creixell family.
Pazo Barrantes’ twelve hectares of Albariño vineyards surround a stunning 16th century
Galician Palace in the Salnés valley, just a few kilometres from the Atlantic coast.

Piemontese classics from a ‘modern traditionalist’
Alba, Italy
Joined MMD 2005
This historic family-owned estate is named after its founder Cesare Pio, who established the
business in 1881. It is based in Alba, in the heart of Piemonte, nestled between the Alps and
the Mediterranean sea. The surrounding hills are ideal for vine growing with unique micro-
climates and varying exposures. The confluence of cold alpine air with warm maritime
moisture regularly creates a mist, or ‘nebbia’, over the foothills, giving name to Nebbiolo, the
great red variety of the region.
Pio Cesare developed Barolo’s reputation overseas in the 1950s by being one of the first
producers to export the wine to the UK. Today, the founder’s great grandson Pio Boffa
continues the family tradition, producing Piemontese wines in a style that manages to
balance the best of the old with the best of the new.
Pio Cesare owns 70 hectares of vineyards in the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco, including
some of the prime sites for growing Nebbiolo: including vines in the ‘Ornato’ vineyard in
Barolo and 15 hectares of ‘Il Bricco’ in Barbaresco.
Pio Boffa has also added a limited range of ‘single vineyard’ wines to the range: Barolo
‘Ornato’, Barbaresco ‘Il Bricco’, Barbera ‘Fides’ and ‘Piodilei’ Chardonnay. These wines are
only produced in limited quantities and offer a more modern interpretation of some of the
great individual sites in Piemonte.

‘Conca d’Oro’ and ‘Ca Florian’, where the grapes for the Amarone Classico, Ripasso, and
Valpolicella Classico Superiore are cultivated. The most prestigious wine of the Valpolicella
is the opulent Amarone, one of Italy’s top wines.
The estate is owned and managed by the 4th generation of the Tommasi family. Six family
members work together to ensure that only top quality Amarone is signed with their
exclusive and distinctive monogram.
Tommasi are also one of the founding members of the ‘Amarone Families’, a collective of
families who own and run their own vineyards.
Tommasi Amarone is produced from the four Valpolicella grape varieties; Corvina
Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta. The grapes are grown on steep hillside
terraces and then dried by the cool autumn breezes that come after the harvest.

The Tommasi family are pioneers, explorers and above all visionaries. With unique
experience and know-how cultivated over four generations, the family draws the best out of
their vineyards, while focusing on eco-sustainability preservation of Valpolicella’s heritage.
De Buris is a project that takes the Tommasi Family back to its roots; the origins of
Valpolicella Classica. On the Grola hilltop, in an area known as “La Groletta”, in the heart of
Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, they want to bring together the cultural patrimony of their
family and a magical location, Villa De Buris which dates back to Ancient Rome.
The grapes are exclusively sourced from 1.9 hectares of vineyard, with very low yields
(6,500kg/ha) aiming to deliver pure excellence. The clay-based soil, south-westerly
exposure and breezes from Lake Garda nearby, create the perfect conditions for the
indigenous grapes of Valpolicella.
De Buris is a very limited production wine with only 7,940 bottles and 300 magnums having
been produced in 2008.

The Tommasi passion for wine has led the family to Puglia. The winery can be found in
Salento, Manduria, one of the finest areas for the cultivation of Primitivo. Viticulture has
ancient origins in Salento, where wine has been made since the time of the Magna Graecia.
The property, which lies about 6 km from the Ionian coast, also includes a manor house
called “Masseria” dating back to the early 1900s, a typical complex of agricultural buildings
which originally acted as an organisational centre for all of the farming operations. Following
refurbishment, the Masseria now houses a winery of 700 sqm complete with vinification and
maturation facilities.
Manduria is one of the finest zones for the cultivation of the Primitivo grape, where
viticulture has ancient origins, dating back to the Magna Graecia time.
The inspiration of the wine names comes from the Greek Mythology, as the region of Puglia
was colonised by the ancient Greeks in 700 BC. Ares, the God of War, is a full-bodied red;
Arthemis, the Goddess of the Moon, is a perfumed and crisp Fiano; Heracles, the hero son
of Zeus, is the powerful and intense Primitivo and Dionysos, the God of Wine, is a rich and
complex Primitivo DOC Riserva.

DE BURIS, VALPOLICELLA CLASSICA
‘De Buris’ Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOC NEW 2008 3x75cl
Brunello di Montalcino made history in 1980 by being the first Italian wine to be awarded
DOCG status. To earn this title, Brunello must be produced exclusively from Sangiovese
Grosso grapes grown in Montalcino, aged a minimum of 24 months in oak, and a further 24
months in bottle before release.
Castiglion del Bosco started producing wine in 1954, and is one of the founding members of
the ‘Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino’. Castiglion del Bosco has been revitalised
since it was purchased by Massimo Ferragamo in 2003. Major investment in the vineyards
and winery has restored Castiglion del Bosco to its position as a leading Brunello estate. As
has the work of the locally trained oenologist, Cecilia Leoneschi, who oversees the vineyards
and cellar. Vineyard management is strictly organic, and the wines are made using a natural
approach, with minimal use of sulphites and intervention. Castiglion del Bosco is soon to
become a certified organic winery.
The estate is located in the Val d’Orcia National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site to the
north west of Montalcino. It is this isolated location which makes organic cultivation possible.
The spectacular ‘Capanna’ vineyard, used to produce Brunello di Montalcino, sits between
340 and 560 metres altitude and covers 42 hectares sloping south, south west towards the
Tyrrhenian coast. The 1.5 hectare plot at the top of the hill is known as ‘Campo del Drago’,
from which the eponymous single-vineyard wine is made. The microclimate is strongly
influenced by the sea with hot, dry summers and a constant breeze that reduces humidity.

The Castello di Fonterutoli estate has been owned by the Mazzei family since 1435. The
Marchesi Mazzei are not only closely linked to the history of Tuscan winemaking, but also to
the political and cultural past of the region as a whole.
The estate is run today by Lapo Mazzei, his sons Filippo and Francesco, and his grandson,
Giovanni. The family share a commitment to innovation and improvement whilst always
preserving tradition, family values and the natural environment.
Located 5km south of Castellina in the heart of the Chianti Classico, Fonterutoli remains a
tranquil country village, surrounded by 263 hectares of stunning vineyards rising to 500m
altitude.
Vineyard work is carried out by hand, with yields never exceeding 40 hectolitres per hectare.
The cellar was designed by Agnesi Mazzei, who also designed the Sassicaia barrel cellar. It
has been defined by Steven Spurrier as “the most impressive in the Chianti region” due to its
minimal impact on the environment, the use of gravity to transport the grapes, and a natural
spring to control the temperature and humidity of the barrel cellar. It even produces its own
clean energy by using the agricultural waste products as fuel.
The character of the wines of the Castello di Fonterutoli has been perfected over the years
thanks to continual innovation, in harmony with the winery’s culture, history and heritage of
technical expertise.

the 11th century.
The estate is run today by Lapo Mazzei, his sons Filippo and Francesco, and his grandson,
Giovanni. The family share a commitment to innovation and improvement whilst always
preserving tradition, family values and the natural environment.
The estate is situated in the Maremma between the hills of Grosseto and Montiano, and
within the official Morellino di Scansano viticultural zone. The estate is only 10km from the
coast, which plays an important role in the microclimate of the vineyards. The vineyards are
characterised by low humidity, below average rainfall for the area and a high rate of
evapotranspiration.
The 60 hectare estate is planted with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante,
Vermentino, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and other indigenous varieties. The vineyards are
situated at 70-130m above sea level with a south, south-west exposure enabling optimum
ripeness.
The soil contains a high content of limestone and sandstone rocks, which are good for
water retention, and some sand, which ensures excellent drainage.
This exceptional combination of soil and atmospheric conditions permits the cultivation of
very diverse strains of grapes, which yield concentrated, complex wines that are also
extraordinarily elegant and aromatic.

Zisola is owned by the Mazzei family, who have been making wine since the 11th century.
The Estate is located in south-eastern Sicily, the home of Nero d’Avola, just outside the
magnificent town of Noto, which has been made a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its
stunning Baroque architecture.
Three generations of the Mazzei family work together running the Zisola estate, which they
purchased in 2002. Lapo Mazzei, his sons Filippo and Francesco, and his grandson,
Giovanni, share a commitment to innovation and progress. The three generations strive to
produce outstanding wines, while always preserving tradition, family values and the natural
environment.
The Zisola estate comprises approximately 50 hectares, 21 of which have been returned to
their original use of vine-growing interspersed with olive, citrus and almond trees. Situated
at approximately 130m above sea level, the gently sloping vineyards have a west, south-
west exposure.
A combination of long warm summers and cooling sea breezes ensure that grapes ripen
with a full spectrum of aromatic compounds. This balanced climate also guarantees
consistency from vintage to vintage and enables the production of elegant wines with great
finesse and varietal character.

Villa Marcello was built at the end of the 17th century by the Tiepolo family as a shooting
lodge in the middle of a large forest.
Elisabetta Galvani Onigo was the first to plant vines on the estate at the beginning of the
19th century. Today, the estate is run by her descendants, the Marcello family, who played
an important role in the history of Venice. Alessandra and Andriana Marcello are deeply
involved in wine production in the local area, Fontanelle, which falls within the Prosecco
DOC, an area which has gained significant international interest over the last decade.
Villa Marcello Prosecco is the latest project of Giovanni Mazzei, who launched his first
vintage Prosecco from his mother Alessandra’s family estate in the Veneto.
The estate covers 57 hectares in the commune of Treviso, of which 26.5 are planted under
vine. Glera accounts for the majority of the plantings, alongside a small amount of Pinot
Bianco. The vineyards are situated at 25 metres above sea level where silty clay soils
produce structured, elegant wines. As with the other Mazzei estates, Villa Marcello is
managed with minimal intervention and the utmost environmental responsibility.
Villa Marcello is “Millesimato”, or ‘vintage’, and shows a balance between modern and
traditional winemaking techniques, which highlights the wine’s origin and unique character.

The pride of the Myburgh family since 1756
Stellenbosch, South Africa

Long recognised for producing premium wines, Meerlust Estate has been the pride of the
Myburgh family since 1756. The Estate is run today by Hannes Myburgh, 8th generation
custodian of this 17th Century national monument.
The first owner of the property, Henning Huising, settled there in 1693. He named his new
home Meerlust, meaning ‘pleasure of the sea’, as the manor house sits on a granite outcrop
just 5km from False Bay. The vineyards are refreshed by ocean breezes and evening mists
which roll in from the coast. The grapes ripen slowly, achieving concentrated varietal flavours.
Meerlust were the pioneers of Bordeaux varietals in the Cape. When visiting Bordeaux, Nico
Myburgh discovered that the climate and soil was similar to that of the Eerste River Valley.
However, at the time the red wines produced in Bordeaux and South Africa were very
different: Bordeaux thrived on producing blends.
Nico returned to Meerlust, filled with the desire to create a blend of his own that would match
those produced in France. In 1980, the new blend was born. With 70% Cabernet Sauvignon,
20% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, a new style of wine had been created in South Africa.
Chris Williams, Meerlust’s Cellar Master, studied Oenology at Elsenburg and gained
international experience in France while working for Michel Rolland.
The Myburgh family is committed to social responsibility and has a long history of investing in
their workforce through the Meerlust Foundation, which aims to provide a safe environment
for the children of the farm workers.

The journey of Rapaura Springs begins far from the Marlborough vineyards, at a point
where the earth claims a share of the Wairau River. After a six month journey through a
rocky aquifer, the water is released to a spring that weaves through the vineyard. This
spring, depicted on the label, provides both the crystal clear, pure water for their vines but
also guides the philosophy behind this family–owned winery.
Launched to critical acclaim in New Zealand with the release of their 2008 Sauvignon
Blanc, Rapaura Springs continues to produce high quality, award winning wines from New
Zealand’s most recognized wine region.
Marlborough’s land, climate and water do all the hard work at Rapaura Springs, leaving the
vineyards to tell their own story with only a gentle nudge in the right direction from the
experienced viticultural and winemaking teams. The result is a selection of focused, terroir-
driven Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs with outstanding varietal expression.
Bob Campbell MW and Sam Harrop MW consult on each vintage and provide guidance on
blends.
Rapaura Springs have a philosophy of minimum intervention, and all vineyards are
carefully managed under strict Sustainable Wine Growing New Zealand standards. The
goal is to enhance the surrounding environment through sustainable vineyard and
winemaking practices, to leave a natural legacy for future generations.
