Wine collecting is a serious investment which requires the proper environment and time. These elements allow wine to evolve into a pristine state in which a true connoisseur can embellish and enjoy.

These prized collections need to be stored in the proper environment of consistent temperature and humidity for long term aging. A properly prepared cellar along with a high quality environmental stabilization system is critical.

The challenge is not only to assure that the environment stays consistent over time, but that the equipment maintaining the environment works efficiently for an extended period of time. Most collectors do not take into consideration that mechanical cooling systems will work constantly, for thousands of hours, to keep the environment at the proper temperature and humidity. Eventually these mechanical cooling systems will require cleaning, maintenance and repair. However in many cases, the need for a simple cleaning is overlooked until a problem with maintaining the environment has occurred. Collectors are then caught off guard and worry that the collections have been compromised.

It is with this issue in mind that we have created the Smart Control cellar monitoring system. For the past two years, we have worked tirelessly with a major control manufacture to develop the latest technology to monitor wine cellar environments. Our new Smart Control cellar monitoring system is fully integrated to not only monitor the cellar environment, but to monitor each component of the cellars cooling system equipment to assure all systems operate seamlessly to maintain the ideal environment for aging of fine wines. The communication module keeps collectors in the loop on the operating status of the system and cellar environment via website tracking and smart phone integration.

Introducing the Cold Weather Start Kit by CellarCool. This kit was designed exclusively for our split-systems where the condensing unit will be installed in extremely cold environments. Our split systems are designed to be adaptable to almost any install, as the condensing unit can be located in a variety of locations such as a mechanical room, basement, back yard, or even a rooftop. Our split systems were designed to operate with the condensing unit exposed to temperatures between 20° F and 110° F. However, there are some areas in the country that may drop below 20° F. Due to these conditions CellarCool designed the Cold Weather Start Kit.

So, when the outside temperatures drop, the pressure in the system drops as well. This presents a challenge because our systems operate using a pump down cycle and a low pressure switch to turn the compressor on and off. However, when the temperature drops below 20° F the pressure in the system is too low to start the compressor. The use of an electronic bypass is needed to start the compressor and temperature controlled heaters installed on the receiver are needed to raise the pressure in the system to optimal levels.

The Cold Weather Start Kit will bypass the low pressure switch on startup and keep the pressure in the system high enough to operate correctly for environments as cold as -15° F.

It is important that the cooling system stays operational during cold weather conditions, as heating the house using the central HVAC system will indirectly increase the temperature of the wine cellar. This kit will ensure that the cooling system will continue to operate efficiently in cold weather environments to maintain an optimal wine storage temperature.

The Cold Weather Start Kit can be ordered as an upgrade on a new unit from the factory, or as an option for a unit already installed in the field, which comes with instructions to guide a technician through the install.

Water-Cooled CondenserOur new water-cooled systems come in four evaporator coil configurations to provide several mounting options.
