Intent is to upgrade Academics & Academic support between semesters
Limited windows of opportunity
Avoid interrupting instruction mid-term
Other departments will be upgraded throughout the summer but prior to the Fall semester
Department upgrades will be coordinated through department management to best work with the department’s business requirements
Computers will be upgraded remotely◦ We will not need to come to your desk
They will be upgraded the dates that are advertised◦ You won’t be contacted right before it happens
Groups of computers will be upgraded all at the same time
Upgrading the operating system this way means that we’re completely re-imaging your computer◦ All data is removed
◦ All software is removed
◦ There will be changes to your profile
◦ Some older peripheral devices may not work
◦ Some smaller/older software may not work
We have staffed up in Client Services to support increased requests for help
We have tested all software available from the SHSU program installation menu
We have tested all hardware devices that we can see on the network
We have tested major department-specific software that we know about
In spite of years of planning, things do happen
