WHERE THE WIND TAKES WHERE THE WIND TAKES US…US…
There is no favourable wind for you, if you do not know where to go.
(Seneca)
The friendship that comes from sun and
wind overcomes every
obstacle and remains
after the events, because it is the precious embroidery
of a humanity made of many coloured pieces which together
shine like the rainbow.

The spread of wind energy in Italy has reached its maximum level between 1999 and 2002, when the plants doubled according to a normative law, that obliged companies to generate at least 2% of the energy produced from renewable sources.
Till 2003 there were in Italy about 1,500 airgenerators installed. Currently there are 12,000 and Italy is 6th in the European classification.Italian wind farms are in Campania, Apulia, Sardinia, Sicily, Abruzzo and Basilicata.

The biggest Italian wind farms are in Salerno, Avellino, Bologna, Siracusa, Agrigento, La Spezia and Sassari.
The biggest of all is in Varese Ligure. It produces 3 GW per year.
This town was the first in Europe to obtain the environmental certification, in accordance with the international norms, for its great attention to the environment protection.

Wind Farms in ApuliaWind Farms in ApuliaWind sources in Apulia have been
industrially exploited for over ten years, and lately the interest towards it has been increasing all around our Region.
The biggest wind farms are in Foggia area, and exactly in Alberona, Monteleone, Anzano e S. Agata di Puglia, for a total of 86 MW.
The wind energy is today a concrete alternative covering the increasing energy requirements, being a reliable and technologically efficient and, above all, inexhaustible source of energy.
In the next five years over two thousand turbines are to be built, producing 5,000 MW.

The way to wind …The way to wind …At present in Apulia there are wind plants for about 540 MW, and the
Ecology Department has authorized further plants for 800 MW to be distributed in the regional area. Proposals for about 3,300 MW
of new wind energy are at the moment in a pipeline. This resource will reduce by 10 % the total impact of electric energy
production. The production of clean and renewable energy by wind power, could
be a simple and economic way of reducing dangerous emission in the air, in accordance with the Kyoto protocol.

Newspapers headlines speak of Apulia before wind energy, but there is a heated debate with environmentalists, who do not
share the Government’s decisions.
They are in favour of small plants rather than of mega-turbines.
But the figures speak clearly: about 40% of regional
requirements could come from wind energy.
It can be of great help, but rules should be respected!
From Foggia to Lecce “the turbines race” to produce wind energy
