State of the Market
Not all deployments are equal Most of today’s deployments are fixed or portable Clearwire, Packet One, UQ, Yota, and KT Wibro are the
exceptions, not the rule when it comes to deployment types Some deployments are not what one would generally call
commercial – i.e. govt. agencies DISA in the US
Certification
9© Current Analysis Inc. All rights reserved.
Certification WiMAX Forum certification results include both D and E On the device side, certification still revolves around data devices
(CPE, modems, laptops) Certification has not kept up with Forum promises
– Didn’t hit 100 certified products goal for end of 2008– Predicting 1,000 certified products by end of 2011
State of the Market
WiMAX’s two-year head start on LTE has changed It is no longer about time between initial deployments Head start is now about experience in deployments, ecosystem
development, and spectrum availability
