Willowbrook Skating Company It all started with signing up for a class! For most of her skating career, Mary Beth trained in Chicago. When Mary Beth’s parents signed her up for skating classes at the age of 8, they had no idea this was the first step of an incredible journey. Just three years later Mary Beth was competing in Regional, Sectional, Jr. National, and National competitions. After much success she moved to Southern California to train with her skating partner, coaches Jenni Meno Sand, and Todd Sand (both 3x Olympians), and coaching legend John Nicks who taught World Champion pair team Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, as well as 2006 Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen. Mary Beth and her partner became the 2012 US National Silver Medalist, one of the top ten pair teams in the world. MEMBERSHIPEach member of our skate school program will be registered as a member of Learn to Skate USA. This requires an annual $17.50 membership

fee which will be active until June 30 each year. This membership provides your skater with a record book and stickers to keep track of the levels they complete, a member patch, a year patch, information about skating and Sports Accident Insurance coverage. These materials will be presented to each registered skater a few weeks into their first session. Patches will be given to skaters as they advance to each level. Skaters receive memberships books only after registering for the rest of the year. Membership must be renewed each year, and skaters receive a yearly membership patch.

MAKE UP CLASSESA skater missing a regular class will be permitted a make up of that class within the time frame of the current session. Please call to schedule make-up classes.

PRIVATE LESSONSPrivate lessons are available from any of our skate school instructors. All of our instructors are members of USFS and PSA (Professional Skaters Association). Private lessons are encouraged to help master skills, especially entering the Freeskate levels of USFS. Contact Mary Beth Marley, Figure Skating Director, for more information about private lessons and for help in choosing a coach.

Class Times and Fees

Snowplow Sam 1-4 (Ages 3-5) 30 min.Snowplow Sam introductory classes are divided into four progressive levels allowing children with no prior skating experience to build confidence while learning the basic skills of skating.

Basic 1-6 (Ages 6 & up) 40 min.Basic Skills provides the best foundation for the skater to learn and grow as a skater. These six progressive levels all introduce the fundamental building blocks of ice skating, while learning all the necessary skills to continue to develop as a skater.

DAY TIMETuesday or Friday 5:10-5:50 pm; 6:20-6:50 pm Saturday 9:30-10:10 am; 10:30-11:10 am; 11:20 am-12:00 pm FEE: $120(6wks) $155(8wks)

Pre-Freeskate 40 min.Pre-Freeskate is the transitional level between basic skills to freestyle. It focuses on fundamental skating skills required for elements in the freestyle classes when learning to jump and spin.

Freestyle 1-6 40 min.Each Freeskate level is a comprised variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins, & jumps. All of which build from previous skills the skater has learned and will continue to learn and improve as they progress. This provides the skater with a strong foundational skill set.

DAY TIMETuesday or Friday 4:10-4:50 pmSaturday 8:40-9:20 am FEE: $125(6wks) $165(8wks)

Power Class 30 min.For skaters who have already passed basic 3. This class provides on-ice conditioning which will help in the skater’s progression and overall mastery of fundamental skating skills. This will highlight power, quickness, edge control, stamina, and will be an overall fun engaging 30 minute training session.

DAY TIMESaturday 8:10-8:40 am FEE: $120(6wks) $130(8wks)

Adult (Ages 18 & up) 40 min.Curriculum that is designed for both beginning and experienced adult skaters who wish to improve their skating. This class will help promote physical fitness, improve balance and coordination while teaching proper skating techniques. This class is for people who look to skating as an enjoyable part of a fit and healthy lifestyle.
