King Bruwaert House to Host Fall Prevention Seminar for the Public
Area residents are invited to attend a Fall Prevention Seminar at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, in the Great Loung of King-Bruwaert House, 6101 S. County Line Road, Burr Ridge. Dr. Christine Klody, of DPT Sport Physical Therapy, will discuss common risk factors and consequences of falls, an increasingly serious issue affecting senior adults today. Guests will learn facts about falls and simply ways to reduce their risk of falling. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of e very three adults age 65 and older experience a fall each year. Among older adults, falls rank as the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries. As part of the presentation, guests will be asked to ta ke a private self-quiz at their seats to learn about their individual potential risk for falling. All seminar guests will also receive a complimentary gift certificate for a 30-minute Fall Screening Assessment performed by a doctoral level physical therapist at DPT Sport. Public Works Director Named Chairperson of DuPage Mayors and Managers Group The Village of Burr Ridge was pleased to announce that Public Works Director Paul May has been appointed as Chairperson of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference Public Works Directors working Goup. This Committee is intended to serve as a forum for the discussion and consideration of current events and issues relative to Public Works operations. Congratulations on your appointment, Paul!!! Burr Ridge Expands Specific Alcohol Sales Chamber member, Eddie Merlots, recently received approval from the Village of Burr Ridge to sell “wine-to-go” to its customers. Now customers can not only order food but wine to take home. In addition, The Village of Burr Ridge recently gave approval for Brookhaven to expand the sale of alcohol to include Sundays starting at 7:00 a.m. Capri is Expanding The Capri Restaurant is expanding into the space next door. Due to this expansion, they do not meet the parking space requirements of the Village. They will be meeting with the Village Board to try to work out the parking space requirements. Farmers Market Moving to Different Day and Time Beginning this summer, the Farmers Market will be held on Tuesdays from 4:00-8:00pm. People will be able to make purchases on their way home. In addition, there will be live music between 6:00-7:30 pm. and the re will something for the kids too! VILLAGE OF WILLOWBROOK Open For Business at the New Village Hall As of February 17, 2015, the new Willowbrook Village Hall is up and running and open for business. Everyone is welcome to stop by and see their surroundings. There will be an official open house in the near future. New Businesses In Town Pete’s Fresh Market is moving ahead! They will bet getting their permits soon. Work is being done at the Chi-Shack that will be located in the former KFC space at 75th Street and Clarendon Hills Road. Olam Internationl, a global company specializing in the cocoa, coffee, cashew, cotton and spice industries just opened a test kitchen and sales office for one of its divisions in Willowbrook. The Spices & Vegetable Ingredients unit of the company launched the new facility at 535 Plainfield Road. “This location features sales facilities and a kitchen for product demos for chefs and clients,” said Greg Estep, president and global head of the spices and vegetable ingredients business unit, based at global headquarters in Fresno, California.
