Horizons FCU is continuing to partner with the Rumble Ponies to recognize local students during the 2019 season. We willbe at four home games this year; April 26, May 10, May 24 and May 31. Willow’s WingsWillow’s Wings is an animal sanctuary that houses and takes care of sick, elderly and disabled animals. At Willow’s Wings you can find farm animals, birds, cats and more. The owner, Willow Sullivan, runs the shelter out of her own home, with the help of generous donations from the community.

In December, Horizons FCU helped out by hosting a supply drive to collect donations for Willow’s Wings. Although our supply drive has ended, we would like to continue to help by sharing Willow’s mission with our members. Willow’s Wings is always in need of animal food, paper towels and other supplies. Bunny Day 2019Horizons enjoys connecting with community members through celebration. In the days leading up to Easter, Horizons will hold a raffle at each of our three branches. The raffle will begin on March 11 and winners will be announced on April 15. Two winners from each branch will receive an Easter basket full of goodies. To enter the raffle stop by one of our offices (must be a Kids’ Club member to enter). In addition, Horizons will be hosting the Easter bunny at our main branch in Binghamton. The Easter bunny will be available from 10 am to noon on Saturday April 6th to take pictures with community members. We look forward to seeing you there.

Horizons FCU is the first place winner of the 2019 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award in the $50 million to $250 million asset size category. This award is given to credit unions that improve the lives of community members through outreach programs. Horizons FCU is being recognized for its contribution to Horace Mann Elementary’s “The Calming Bench.” Horizons donated a bench themed “Throw your troubles away.” The bench provides students a place to sit and write about their feelings; it also provides a locked box that students can put their writing in to avoid judgement. In addition to the bench, Horizons FCU organized classes for students to learn money management skills.This is the 13th time Horizons FCU has won the first place Dora Maxwell Award. In the past, Horizons has been recognized for its Outstanding Student Night and Family Fun Friday programs.

Heart Walk 2019Horizons FCU will be walking in the 2019 Heart Walk at SUNY Broome, this will be the credit union’s fifth year participating. Once again, Horizons employees donated $1 to AHA each week for the opportunity to wear jeans on Fridays. Join us at 10 am on April 7 to raise awareness for heart disease.
