  • ax Ernst stated, “Painting is for me neither decorative amusement, nor the plastic inven-tion of felt reality; it must be every time: invention,

    discovery, revelation.” Contempo-rary painter Charles Billich appro-priates Avant-Garde techniques by posing oppositional genres of abstraction and figurative repre-sentation against one another as a way to symbolize continual ten-sions between our contemporary identity and our historical past. His monumental mixed media paintings present heterogeneous scenarios between expressive figures all interacting within far reaching Classical Greek inspired hallways disconnected from an architectural context.

    Mr. Billich’s technique alludes to Avant-Garde movements including cubism and futurism by transforming images into geometric simplicity to express speed and movement through layering and delicate color gradation between shapes. Through his tech-nique “Agravitationism” he uses geo-metric shapes and forced perspectives to invite the viewer on a journey into his compositions in order to explore the juxtapositions between art histor-ical references.

    The artworks behold a vast data-base of imagery reminiscent of the past through his Greek inspired fig-ures, but very tied to our present age through his expansive amalgamation of imagery that seems haphazard and disconnected. Explosions of analo-gous colors provides a visual imagery of spiritual revelation and creates an exciting artistic drama on canvas, in-spiring viewers to contemplatively re-flect on their inner being.

    His paintings purposefully overwhelm through his cavernous juxtaposi-tions of figurative forms and geomet-ric shapes, with the artist stating, “I manipulate reality. I turn it into some kind of symbolic analysis, which works on several levels of meaning. There is a touch of irony in what I paint, as there is in all contemporary surreal art.” He employs the term “Ex-pressivism” to describe his work, and he aims to evoke emotion from view-ers. Rather than passive bystanders, viewers become active agents required to personally investigate the diverse imagery within each surreal composi-tion.

    The award-winning artist Charles Bil-lich was born in Lovran, in what was Italy, but now Croatia. He now works and resides in Australia. He exhibits worldwide in group and solo exhibi-tions throughout Australia, China, Japan, U.A.E., Africa, Croatia, Eng-land, Italy, and the United States.

  • CONSUELO CHILD-VILLIERSarc Chagall once de-clared, “In our life there is a single color, as on an artist’s pal-ette, which provides the meaning of life and art. It is the color of love.” Contempo-rary artist Consuelo Child-Villiers bathes

    her fantastical portraits in saturated pools of gem-like colors, creating lux-urious dreamscapes exuding surreal fantasy and intrigue. Ms. Child-Villiers reconceptualizes Avant-Garde move-ments including German Expression-ism, specifically the animal inspired creations of Der Blaue Reiter founder Franz Marc, intermingled with French Fauvism in order to explore the exotic interaction of humans’ fanciful wonder-ment with the natural world. A fin-de-siècle dynamism explodes through her opulent use of richly saturated hues.

    Her diverse oeuvre captures subject matters including odalisque women, blissful acrobats and sublime animals, capitulating the Avant-Garde opposition between society and nature by express-ing the harmonious love and carefree existence between these two kingdoms.     Award-winning artist Consuelo Child-Villiers works and re-sides in London, where she re-cently restored a former Chapel into her studio. Before moving to London, this British artist of Italian and Spanish origin spent years working in the South of France. My favorite tools are organic sculptural forms and bright primary colors.” His artistic license em-bellishes the vistas and exaggerates the shapes of the views to organically undu-lating forms mirroring the surrealist lines of Joan Miro.     ated through welding metals and found ma-terials into a dynamic arena that manipulates familiar objects into surreal and uncanny sce-narios. His artwork acts as symbolic expres-sions that reference the existential psyche of contemporary individuals as they consider their place in a global world order. Mr. Dallos grew up in mid-century Europe, a time of po-litical turmoil, economic upheaval and social oppression. He spent his early years under the Hungarian fascist regime and later under Soviet Occupation until he immigrated to the United States after the Hungarian Revolution.

    Alongside a historical remembrance of mid-century political opposition during the rise of fascism in Europe surrounding WWII, his mixed media welded sculptures symbolically reflect ethical conflicts that continue to af-fect humankind. He describes his “Struggle Series” as a reflection on elemental conflicts affecting present day society, stating, “One struggle is between Western Civilization and the forces of nihilism and anarchy; the other is environmental destruction vs. the reaction of the wounded earth.” Mr. Dallos represents through his use of bricolage construction, in-tegrating numerous materials together into a single sculpture, the reality of oppositional dualism prevalent in our society today.

  • Order as well as disorder, natural preserva-tion as well as environmental demolition, all equations are formalities caused by the pro-gressive ethos of globalism, and Mr. Dallos intricately expresses these oppositional dual-isms in his dynamic mixed media and metal sculptures. Award-winning artist Peter Dallos works and resides in North Carolina. He stud-ied painting in Budapest with György Kádár, one of Hungary’s foremost artists. Aside from his fine art career, Mr. Dallos has a success-ful professional life as the John Evans Profes-sor Emeritus of Neuroscience at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He exhibits nation-ally in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States, including North Carolina and New York. His artwork is housed in pres-tigious public and private collections world-wide. His “War Series” of nine sculptures is in the permanent collection of the U.S. Holo-caust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.
