BIRTHDAY SURPRISE PARTY A very enjoyable birthday party
took place on last Monday evening when the Willmar members of Cbl. Heg Poet No. 126, were royally entertained by the excellent host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar A. Larson, at their beautiful modern home, 327 Becker ave W.- This fine home was recently completely finished by the energetic efforts of Mr. M. D. Manning who, on surviving the task in a smil-^** ing manner, was considered anvpljr "Worthy of this acknow'.adsnrcat en his birthday on that date, and the 'banquet appeared a coinn'eto s-: .-prise • to him.
The sumiptious feast, consisting of 'the best on the market, prepared in such perfect manner was delicious, and of a large variety of appetizing eatables, and drinkables^ too numerous to mention, confirming the general reputation of the host and hostess as being good entertainers and experts in the preparations of delicious viands. ' During the repast. Comrade A. E. Rice presented our efficient comrade Adjutrfnt M. D. Manning, with a nice watch chain from the six G. A. R. members present, as a fitting memento for his excellent services, on his birthday. This accompanied with the .. sincere best wishes of all present, including the host and hostess, for many happy returns of the day.
Comrade Commander Rice at the same time expressed a very commendable reminder, regarding our decreasing numjbers in this post, since two of our most valued members 'have passed away during the past^ -year. In our advanced age we are « marching a!ong the line of the so called eleventh milestone on life's journey.
The entertainment continued in a . happy manner with more refreshments and enlivening music, and reminiscent talk of 18G1-G5, regarding old times, until the 12 o'clock midnight hour, when youngsters should retire.—Contributed.
