As Cassius’ slave, Pindarus, watches Titinius cross the

battlefield, he mistakenly reports that Titinius has been surrounded

by enemy troops. Cassius assumes that Brutus’ soldiers are

defeated & ALL IS LOST.

Page 20: William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Act V.

Since Cassius refuses to be

taken alive, he asks Pindarus to

kill him.

Page 21: William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Act V.

…BUT THEN…

Page 22: William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Act V.

…Titinius returns & explains that the

soldiers surrounding him were actually Brutus’ cheering

soldiers who had just defeated Octavius.

Page 23: William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Act V.

…Titinius is so upset about Cassius’ death that he kills himself

with Cassius’ sword.

Page 24: William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Act V.

…Brutus holds a funeral for Cassius outside of camp

because he does not want to discourage his soldiers

before they fight the second battle …
