Principal's Message continued

School start and finishing timesA reminder that the school starting and finishing times changed this year. Students commence their classes at 8.45am and the school day ends at 2.50pm. It is very important that all students arrive on time to school every morning. While we understand that this is not always possible, arriving on time at school ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day, helps students to maintain routine, gives our students time to greet their peers and staff before class and reduces disruptions. We appreciate your assistance and support!

Family Matters: Important information for parents/carers from the Department of EducationThe Department recognises that some families will be subject to family breakdown. In the absence of any notification to the contrary, it will be assumed that both parents retain a shared and equal parental responsibility for their children and have been involved in making decisions regarding their children’s education. This means that the school will recognise that each parent has equal duties, obligations, responsibilities and opportunities in relation to matters involving the school.

If any changes occur in your family relationships which have the potential to impact on the relationship between the school and your family, you are required to advise the school immediately. This includes providing copies of any court orders that may be obtained.

Keep your details up-to-date!It is important that the school maintains accurate student enrolment records. If student or family details change, such as your address or telephone number, please ensure that you notify the administration office immediately.

How can parents help their child travel safely to and from school with Assisted School Travel, your driver and-or ATSO.

1. Be ready 15 minutes before the pick-up and drop-off time.

2. Wait at the agreed safe pick-up and drop-off location outside your home tomeet the vehicle.

3. Even if there is an ATSO in the car/bus, you must help your child get in thevehicle, make sure they are safely seated and your child’s seat belt is buckledcorrectly.

4. In the afternoon parents again get in the vehicle to undo your child’s seat beltand assist them out safely.

5. Parents also assist travel staff in loading and securing your child and theirmobility equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers.
